Got a call from someone claiming to be HMRC, saying I owed money and that I had a court date that very same afternoon. Totally felt like a scam to me.

I've been inundated with a series of dodgy messages urging me to ring the number listed above. It's left me feeling rather anxious and unsettled. They claim to represent Revenue and Customs, but who exactly are these individuals? I've saved their texts for reference. Any advice on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Sandra from Dewsbury.

I've been bombarded with some poorly made voicemails claiming to be from HM Revenue and Customs, and it has really sent me into a tailspin of worry and stress. I’m not quite sure how to handle this situation. Any advice would be much appreciated. Best, Sandra Dewsbury.

Over the past two days, I’ve received four calls that were poorly recorded, yet they seemed to be making some rather menacing threats about potential legal action if we didn’t get back to them.

I had a similar experience with a terrible recorded voicemail that sounded utterly dodgy. Initially, it sent me into a bit of a tizzy, but after sharing it with my partner, they quickly put my mind at ease, claiming it was just some sort of scam. It really makes you wonder what motivates folks to engage in such despicable behaviour. It’s quite nauseating, to be honest.

Got three calls last Saturday morning, the messages were completely scrambled but kept saying it was HMRC and if I didn’t ring back legal trouble would follow. Pretty sure it’s just a scam trying to spook me.

This number rang us earlier. We tried ringing back through the details we got off 1471. The person on the end wanted our phone number, but my husband wasn’t having any of it. When my husband asked for his name, he said Michael Douglas, but his accent was definitely not British. We then asked where he was calling from, and he claimed it was London. When we asked for a postcode, he just put the phone down.

Got a weird-ish message, all scrambled up, saying I must call back right away because it was urgent or something. Really dodgy, and I bet it could freak some folks out for nothing. The message was hard to catch, and the number looked suspicious too. Definitely checked it out before calling back - glad I did!

Seriously, don’t call back! Got a weird, jumbled message saying I had to phone back right away because it was urgent. Sounds like a total scam to me, and I reckon it would freak out some folks for no good reason. The message was so confusing and the number looked off. I’m really glad I looked it up first instead of just ringing straight away.

Received a shoddy automated call claiming to be from HM Revenue and Customs, insisting I ring this number without delay. They went on about something urgent and suggested I seek legal counsel! Honestly, I've had my fill of this nonsense, so I cut the line. Whatever you do, don't engage with these muppets.

I’ve been through everything mentioned below myself. I even reached out to the Supreme Court and HMRC to double check things. Not really sure what the scam’s about, but fingers crossed the officials step in and deal with it properly.

Came back home and my hubby, who’s retired, was really shaken up after getting a call from this number earlier today. They made him believe the police were on their way to arrest him for dodging tax - which is totally not true, he’s been very honest with his taxes! Honestly, these fraudsters should be put behind bars, they’re just awful!

Today I received a call from this number and I’m so glad I looked it up here first. It’s definitely a scam, so don’t answer or get involved. Honestly, these scammers should be taken off the streets.

I've been getting calls from this number a few times each day, where some weird automated voice, sounding like it's British, warns me about legal trouble if I don't answer quickly. There's no one giving a name or any details, it's just some robot-like message on the line. It’s happening like three or four times every single day.

Please don't ring me again.

Came back to find my husband, who’s retired, really shaken after he got a call from this number earlier. He was almost convinced the police were on their way to arrest him for tax evasion or something, which is totally not the case! These scammers seriously deserve to be thrown behind bars!

This number has rung me up a few times, plus 002931295663 as well, always with the same voicemail. HMRC never contacts folks with messages like that, so I'd be careful.

This is 100% a scam and nothing to do with HMRC. First off, HMRC never rings from this kind of phone number and usually contacts people through letters. Don’t give out any personal details - they’re just trying to gather info to scam you or steal your identity later! I actually rang the number back with my number hidden and asked for a different contact number. They gave me the UK Supreme Court line, probably trying to scare me. I then reached out to the real HMRC customer service who confirmed it was a con. I’ve also reported the whole thing to the Fraud Department.

Like I said earlier, HMRC doesn’t mess around - if I’d ignored the call and not got back to them, there’d definitely be consequences.

I reckon this was supposed to be HMRC, but if it is, they really should put out a warning about this number on the news or something. The message was all crackly and sounded proper unprofessional. Plus, they called me three times within just 30 minutes! Be careful with this one. Honestly, I doubt HMRC would just ring you out of the blue like that - I’m sure they’d send a letter instead.

Got a call from this number with a taped message claiming HMRC's about to sue you and that you need to ring them urgently. The person you speak to when you call back seems to know your name but doesn't really sound like they understand HMRC rules properly. Best avoid calling them back, it’s definitely some sort of scam.
