I got a call from someone who said he was gay. I just told him he must be a bit mixed up, and that area of his body should definitely be for going out, not coming in.

Just a heads up, HMRC has actually warned about this scam on their site. They mention there’s a phone scam where you get a voicemail claiming to be from them, saying you’re being taken to court and should call a number and press ‘1’ to talk to the case officer. Apparently, it’s popping up a lot and often aimed at older folks. Saw this info straight from HMRC’s own website.

Totally a scam for sure! I rang HMRC to double check and they had no idea about the number. They asked if I wanted them to look into any claims against me, so after I gave them my National Insurance number, they ran the checks and unsurprisingly, found nothing at all!

I just ignored the call and when I checked my answerphone, there was a message saying they'd take legal steps if I didn’t ring them back. I never pick up numbers that aren’t saved in my contacts, and if I do by mistake, I just quickly hang up so they don't even get the chance to leave a voicemail. Even though I'm signed up with the telephone preference service, I still get loads of annoying calls.

Got a call from someone saying they were from the Inland Revenue and kept mentioning a solicitor trying to freak me out. Inland Revenue never just ring out of the blue without sending an email first. Looks like a total scam to me. Watch out!

Got a call today from this number and it turned out to be like the usual ones, with a pre-recorded voice saying it was from HMRC, warning me it was urgent and if I didn’t call back I’d face legal trouble. What struck me was they dialed my personal work line instead of the general office number, which is the number HMRC would actually have, so I'm pretty sure this is just a scam. Oddly enough, the number they want you to ring back is the exact same one that called me.
