Got a call from Carphone Warehouse wanting to know what phone I’m using and my monthly bill. I told the woman I’m still tied into my contract for 18 months and she got really pushy, asking for more info so they could supposedly cover my outstanding fees. I told her I wasn’t interested and wouldn’t share anything since it was an unwanted call. She then started swearing at me, telling me to “F#ck off” repeatedly before she hung up. I struggled to catch what she was saying at first because of her thick accent, and I told her it was 8.30pm. I asked where she got my number from, but she didn’t reply. I got a call from some bloke looking for my great grandma, who’s been gone for yonks. He kept saying her name wrong and asked if I was her, so I set him straight that I wasn’t. Plus, if it were a cover, I don’t see how it’d expire - maybe if it were made from something silly like rice paper, but that’d be daft! I answered the phone and a polite gentleman asked if I was Mr xxxxxx. I confirmed I was, and then he just ended the call straight away!

They made some strange noises then just ended the call. I’d say block the number.

Got a call from some bloke called Max claiming my insurance was due for renewal and said it’d be cheaper by £2 since I’d never made a claim. Nearly fell for it as I do have insurance and never claimed before! They even had my correct name and address down. I gave them my sort code but stopped short of giving my account number since they’d probably already have that, plus I knew I’d be protected by the direct debit guarantee. Asked them to post the renewal through the mail instead and as soon as I started asking questions, they just hung up on me!

Got a call where the person knew my first name and asked for me. I answered with a hello, and then she started talking about some washing machine warranty or cover I supposedly bought. I told her I didn’t have any such cover at all. Then, she just hung up on me. After that, I looked the number up here and went ahead and blocked it. Really creeps me out that she already knew my first name!

Some bloke claimed he was calling from DAG and knew my name along with a previous address, but he ended the call right after I told him I'd moved.

I hung up straight away when they started saying I had some insurance on my appliance. Total nonsense!
