I received a rather peculiar call this morning from a chap named Alan, who had a distinct Asian accent. He identified himself as a representative from BT Technical Support, despite the fact I'm not even a BT customer! Alan informed me that there was a pressing concern with my internet connection, asserting that my IP address had been compromised and was being manipulated by some other individual in the wee hours of the morning. He warned that if the matter wasn't resolved posthaste, they would have no choice but to sever my line. Alan even provided me with an employee ID number, suggesting I could verify his credentials by calling the London number listed above and conducting a trace. In an effort to dismiss him, I mentioned I’d reach out to verify. When I inquired how I could get back in touch with him if necessary, he insisted I just ring the same number-and they’d reconnect me with him. Honestly, can you believe that?

Just had a rather dubious call from someone claiming to be with UBS - yes, the United Bank of Switzerland - touting some sort of managed bond that supposedly yields over 6%! They were keen to grab my email address. Makes you wonder, right? Just be cautious, folks!

I keep receiving calls from this number around twice weekly, only for the line to go silent as soon as I answer.
