Got a call from 02030074128 where the guy said his name was "Mark" and he was doing a survey for UK Today. It was pretty obvious it was an Indian call centre scam. They try to get you to share info so they can scam you later. I told him straight up I don’t ever give personal details to random callers, especially ones from Asia using fake western names. He seemed annoyed, maybe said something in Hindi under his breath, then just hung up on me.

Yeah, I got one of these calls too. HMRC do send letters, so if you haven’t got one in the post, it’s probably a scam. Don’t ever hand over cash on the spot. If you want to be sure, ring HMRC from a different phone. They’ve said they never just ring out of the blue saying you owe money, and only get in touch about debts you already know about.
