Got a call from some hackers trying to scam me, definitely dodged a bullet there.

Got a call on the 3rd of February from someone claiming hackers were targeting BT. They asked me to open TeamViewer and gave me their ID (4444 27207). Told me to run some commands in cmd while they pretended to be trying to break into my router. I've reported this to both BT and TeamViewer. The number seems to come from around Telford.

Got a call from someone with an Asian accent claiming to be from BT, saying my router was sending out error messages. Since I’m not even a BT customer, I asked him, quite nicely, where he lived so I could send a handful of something rude his way. He wasn’t interested in sharing that, so I just hung up. But then he kept ringing back, like three times, asking if I ‘knew Jesus’. I told him I’m not mates with any god, and said he sounded a bit like Raj from Big Bang Theory, but he didn’t seem to get the joke - which is a shame, because Raj is hilarious!

Got a call supposedly from “BT” saying there were 17 people stealing my wifi. He kept saying he wouldn’t get into my PC but could show me who was using it. Told me it was free to check and all that. I’m not even with BT, so I just thought it was dodgy and ended the call. Definitely sounded like a scam to me.

Got a call from some dodgy BT scammers, sounded like they were from Asia or something. They kept firing random questions at me trying to spot a way to con me. If you can, just play along and keep them hanging around for a bit - they probs don’t mind the timewaste lmao.

i just got a call from this number, and the person on the other end claimed my ip address was at risk and hackers were attempting to break into my computer. sounds like a new twist on the old bt scam thats been going about for ages. i tried to keep the caller talking a bit to waste their time but every time i answered, he'd just say "what?" really irritating, so i ended up hanging up. definitely put this one in the scam category, its pretty dodgy.

Avoid chatting with these folks - they’re definitely con artists! They’re not connected to BT at all.

Got a call from BT saying there was some dodgy stuff downloaded on my internet line and they needed me at my PC. Felt really fishy to me, so I reckon it was a scam.

Got a call from 01952 857587, sounded like a call centre, maybe from India or Pakistan. They asked if I was the main user of the wifi. I was like, no, and what’s this about anyway? We don’t even have a BT account, usually it’s been those TalkTalk scam calls targeting us. The person just hung up right away. I read somewhere that in November, folks had £1000 stolen from their accounts after similar calls. We’re ex-directory too, but these days, that seems to mean nothing.
