Got a call from this number about someone in my area who’s quite vulnerable. They were saying she owes money and that they’d be dragging her to court over it. When she asked for more info, they just kept threatening with legal stuff but wouldn’t say anything specific. She ended up hanging up, feeling really upset and worried. Honestly, I’d suggest not sharing any info if this number calls you.

This morning around 9:25, someone pretending to be from BT rang me up and said my broadband's got an issue and they'd unplug it for a whole month. I just said thanks and ended the call. I've marked this as risky since it's a landline number, and loads of folks might easily get duped by it.

I told her no, but mentioned my husband would be back around 6.30pm so she could ring then. She quickly said it was urgent, claiming our computer had been hacked and it was a serious problem. I just said no thank you and hung up. Since I don’t even own a computer, it seemed like a dodgy scam trying to trick people. Just a heads up for others to be careful!

I dont usually answer calls on my landline if the number isnt familiar, so I just pick up and hang up straight away. Just saw this on BBC News today about a scam like this - a woman from a small village in the south of Scotland got swindled out of almost £29,000. It all took place on a Saturday morning last week in xxxx, close to xxxxxx. The caller rang up a 59-year-old lady pretending to be from BT Openreach, saying he was looking into "suspicious activity" on her PC. He then guided her through several steps that ended up giving him access to her online bank account, and he emptied the funds.

They've been ringing up older people saying there's a fault with their BT phone, even though these folks aren’t even BT customers. It's really worrying some of the residents and has caused quite a bit of upset.

This number has called me a few times now. They claim to be from BT and say that my internet is being hacked, asking me to have my computer ready. I usually just let them talk for a bit and then hang up because I know it’s a scam. Sometimes they ring me back straight away, like several times in a row. I’m on the TPS list but it doesn’t seem to do any good. Even though I’m older, I’m cautious about these calls, but I worry about loads of other older folks who might fall for it. These calls really need to be stopped.

Today, I got a call from someone saying they were with BT. Since I've been having internet issues, I figured it might be legit. But then they told me the problem wasn’t the internet at all, it was my computer, and that scammers were trying to hack into it. They wanted me to do some stuff on my laptop which I didn’t really get, so I just kept ending the call. They kept phoning me back though. When I said I was heading out, they said they’d call me again later. Such a pain!

My mum has been getting calls from this number quite often. The person on the other end always sounds Asian and says they’re from ‘BT,’ warning that her WiFi is faulty and will be cut off if she doesn’t sort it.
My mum’s 80 and has no idea what WiFi even means, plus she’s not a BT customer at all.

I reckon these calls might be linked to TalkTalk, since she began getting them right after changing to TalkTalk as her provider.

I just got a call from a woman with an East European accent, sounded like a call centre. She told me my internet would be cut off in a couple of hours due to some illegal stuff happening nearby on my connection. Then she asked if I'd given my wifi password to anyone else. I told her I needed to hang up so I could ring BT to confirm, but actually I looked it up online first and found this forum. Really grateful for the info here, cheers!

This number has phoned me twice lately, and both times the caller sounded like they were from India or Pakistan, based on their accent and the background noise. They say they're from BT and warn that my internet will be cut off soon because of a supposed issue. Although my phone line is with BT, I don’t actually have any internet service with them. As soon as I mention that my number is ex-directory and on the TPS list, they hang up straight away.

somebody rang me saying they were steven from bt about my broadband. i told them i'd call bt directly, using the number on my bill, and speak to tech support to check if they were legit. guess what? they just cut the call! its proper frustrating cos it was from a landline number, so bt must know about it and probably profit somehow. makes you wonder why they're not doing anything to put a stop to it.
