Got a call from a woman with a Scouse accent claiming she was from Kent county council. She knew my son's name and even had his address. It’s really upsetting to realise it was just a dodgy scam.

Got a call from a woman, sounded middle aged with a strong northern accent and quite a deep voice. She said she was ringing from Kent county council and asked to speak to my son. They chatted, and she checked our address and where he goes to school. After seeing what’s been said here, I’m gonna insist they send anything like this in writing next time. Feels a bit off now, to be honest.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with the local council asking about the education status of a 17-year-old. They had the young person's full address and birth date, which seemed odd. When I rang the council directly, they said they wouldn’t make calls like that. Felt a bit dodgy to me.

Picked up the phone thinking it was from around here, the caller knew my name and claimed they were from Sky Bet. Said I'd set up an account the day before, which I hadn't, so I told him straight up and he shut off. No doubt a scam, trying to fish for info. I told them to stop ringing me but they kept at it, proper rude and argumentative. I even told them to buzz off because they were so cheeky. It’s mad how you feel totally helpless against these phone calls. If you’re fed up too, I’d recommend signing up with the TPS (Telephone Preference Service). Just put your phone number on their list - landline or mobile - and after about 28 days it’s against the law for telemarketers to ring you. If they do, you can lodge an official complaint on their site. Fingers crossed this might be useful :)

Got a call from a bloke with a Geordie accent asking me to verify my name. When I asked who he was, he wouldn’t say and just kept going on about being from my online gambling account, which I don’t even have. Told him nothing and hung up, then blocked the number. Definitely seemed like a dodgy scam to me.

Some bloke claimed he was calling from Sky Bet, saying I was entitled to a £60 free bet if I put down £10. When I asked if I could use the free bet on a single spin on the roulette and cash out any winnings, he didn’t really have a clue. After that, he kept going on about football accumulators, which seemed a bit odd to me. He also mentioned my user ID and said I could change my password whenever I wanted, even asking if I wanted to do it then and there. Felt seriously dodgy to me.

Just to clear things up for anyone who hasn't heard, there's this bloke named Victor Chandellor. He’s proper shady. He makes his money off your gambling losses and on top of that, he uses your info for dodgy stuff, like selling it on to scammy mates. Loads of us have had calls not long after joining some online betting sites. Honestly, we're just being played like puppets in their scheme.

Got a call from some firm trying to sell me a dining card for 60 quid with supposed savings over 300 quid. They asked for 2.70 postage as well. Told them I’m heavily pregnant and not interested but they kept pushing for my bank info. They never got it, thankfully. Proper hassle and a bit scary how they wouldn’t let me just say no. Would advise not answering these kinds of calls, feels dodgy.

Got a call from SkyBet, but I told them I actually only use Bet Victor. They claimed it was definitely them though. Then they asked for my login and password to "verify" my account. After I gave it, they said they'd set me up with a free £10 bet on any 5 fold accumulator, just as long as Newcastle Utd wasn’t part of it. Proper curious to see if this free bet actually comes through!

They keep ringing me every week pretending to be Skybet. I told them to take me off their marketing list, but this Geordie lady named Sharon said she couldn’t do it and I had to do it myself online. Yeah, like that’s gonna happen. There’s actually no option for marketing preferences on their site, and I checked with Skybet directly. When I chatted with Skybet on their website, they said they’re based in Leeds and advised me to just block the number.

Got a call today about some 'service' I'd supposedly signed up for. The bloke kept insisting on speaking to me, but when I said I never denied it was me and asked where he was calling from, the Geordie lad just wouldn't say.
