I’m currently out of the country, and this number popped up as +441905570988. Turns out it’s a phoney HMRC representative claiming I’m being watched or some other nonsense.

It was just a pre-recorded message. Just a heads up, HMRC doesn’t make phone calls like this, especially not with such poor quality audio!

I've had this bloke ring me up four times now, always switching his phone numbers but spinning the same ridiculous tale. He reckons he's from HMRC, knows all about me - my name, where I live, and even my phone digits. Apparently, I've been "under surveillance" 😂 and if I don't cough up, I’m heading for jail on fraud charges. He asked if I had a lawyer to talk to, so I sent my pricey lawyer to ring him back. As soon as the mention of legal action came up, he just hung up. I've reported him twice, yet the calls keep coming. Can't someone track this idiot down and put an end to it?

I got a call from an automated voice earlier and just for a laugh I asked if they really were HMRC. They replied with the website www.gov.uk and then the call suddenly dropped. Quite strange!

I’ve had the same bloke ring me up four times now, each time from a different number but with the same daft tale. He’s pretty intimidating, knows my name, address and phone digits. Claims he's from HMRC and says I’m being watched 😂 and that if I don’t pay up I’ll end up in jail for fraud. He even asked if I had a lawyer to speak to. So I got my pricey 'lawyer' to call back, and he hung up as soon as he heard about potential court action. I’ve reported it on a couple of occasions but the calls just keep coming. Surely someone can track this idiot down and put a stop to it?

SCAM ALERT. Spent a moment on the phone, and the person claimed I'd been audited for my taxes from 2012 to 2017, saying I'd short-paid. They said HMRC want the money straight away or they'll send a warrant for me to be arrested. They went on about some HMRC rules. The supposed debt was £4992. When I asked how I could make the payment, they just cut me off. While I was still listening, I could hear someone else repeating the same script in the background.

Someone called saying they were Linda from HMRC, but it was obvious a scam. I’d report it straight to HMRC at [email protected] to be safe.

Got a robo call from 01905 570988 saying there’s a warrant out for me. It was one of those recorded messages. Tried ringing back on my landline but the call never goes through. Bit suspicious if you ask me.

Got a voicemail that sounded all crackly and unclear. It's the second time I've received this kind of call, so I just went ahead and deleted it. If it were really from HMRC, I'd be getting letters in the post, not dodgy calls!
