Got a call from some Indian bloke supposed to be named Roger (doubt it) who claimed he wasn’t trying to sell me something, but then asked if the postcode I gave was right! I ignored it and he just left the phone hanging. Clearly a call centre cos it took ages before he said anything.

I've had a right nuisance with this number, calling me daily without fail. The last time they rang, they asked for someone named Jason. I told them to shove off and wouldn’t give them any details about myself. I ended the call pretty quickly. They tend to ring first thing in the morning and sometimes hang up before the voicemail even picks up. Tomorrow, I’m planning to answer and blast a loud alarm clock on speaker - I’ll keep doing it until they pipe down! I’ve tried this trick before for dodgy calls, and it works a treat.

Got a call from someone asking for me by name, but they had a strong foreign accent. When I asked who was calling, the bloke told me I was being rude and just ended the call! Strange behaviour.

Got a call from a man with an Indian accent. When I picked up, there was that usual awkward pause like it was some call centre. I said, ‘Hello’, and he went, ‘Hello Mr Smith’ (not even my name). I repeated ‘Hello’, he kept saying ‘Mr Smith’. I just said ‘Hello’ again. Then he snapped, ‘I know you can hear me, don’t pretend you can’t’ all aggressive and rude. Whenever they ring me, I’ve got this routine where I pick up and say my piece, but more often than not, they simply cut the line as soon as I ask who’s on the other end. However, today was a real shocker! The lady on the line unleashed a volley of foul language, telling me to do something particularly rude with myself, then slammed the phone down. I’ve since noted down their number, but oddly enough, the other contact I had for them appears to be out of service. Quite the experience, I must say!

I told him all my details are kept private and protected by data laws, so he’d have to contact the British government about my job info if he wanted anything. He just said thanks and ended the call. Sometimes it’s simpler to say you’re Mr #####, a housekeeper or a PA, and ask if they can help.

A man with a strong Indian accent called and asked for me by name. Then he dropped the classic line: "I'm not trying to sell you anything!" He mentioned his company but it was so slurred I couldn't make it out properly, though it was obvious this was a sales pitch or probably a scam. Got the exact same spiel as in the other comments. He said he wasn’t selling anything and asked if I was XXXX. Whenever he asked something, I just said I couldn’t share details because of the Data Protection Act. That did the trick. He ended the call.

Cold callers, whether they disturb us on the phone or knock at our door, are not welcome. We have our own reliable sources for any assistance we might require. I’ve been getting calls from this number repeatedly throughout the week. I picked up the phone the first time, and the chap on the other end, who clearly wasn't local, immediately claimed, "This isn’t a sales call." I didn’t stick around to hear more and promptly hung up. Since then, I’ve been ignoring their calls entirely. Interestingly, as soon as my voicemail starts to record, they seem to hang up.
