So, this bloke rang me yesterday on 07749864187 saying he was from BT. Apparently, my internet had been hacked or something. He told me to fire up my computer and he'd guide me through to spot some sort of ripples on the screen. Also, I've seen him use 02039507555 too.

An elderly lady I know, 86 years old, got a call from a man who sounded like he might have an Indian accent. He claimed her internet was down and wanted her to get on her computer to sort it out. Mum has no BT contract, no computer, and no smartphone, so I stepped in. After about ten minutes of him spinning stories and me calling out the nonsense, plus saying I’d take it up with the police, he finally backed off. This sort of scam could easily fool some folks, so I felt it was important to flag it as a real risk.

Got a call from someone claiming to be BT, but she spoke with a really strong Indian accent and said her name was Rosie Barker. She sent me a security code to my phone that looked proper, with the BT logo and all. I knew straight away it was dodgy, but I played along to waste their time. I told them I had to fetch my laptop and plug it in, and that updates were installing, while I just carried on doing my thing at home. They started shouting down the phone, trying to hurry me up. Absolute disgraceful scammers, the worst!

Totally a scam, no doubt. The person said they were from BT and said someone was messing with my internet without permission. I asked for a number to ring them back on and they gave me 1793596931, but then when I tried asking more, they just cut me off.

Like many others have mentioned, I got a call from someone with an Asian accent and loads of background noise, sounded just like a call centre. He tried some strange verification thing, asking for the first and last letter of the email address of someone who apparently worked at the company over a decade ago - which was totally wrong. It definitely felt dodgy, but I decided to play along a bit just to see what would happen. He then told me to open the 'Run>' window and type a command, which there’s no way I was going to do. When I asked for a proper contact number to check if it was BT, he gave me this very number.

So, earlier today I got a call pretending to be from BT. They said my internet was running too slow and that neither my computer nor my phone was secure, even my banking stuff. The whole call dragged on for about 2 hours straight, apart from a 10 minute pause. They also said they'd ring back to "complete" whatever they were trying to do. I'm 86 and not tech savvy at all, and honestly, the stress from that call made me feel really sick. The person on the line had an accent that sounded Asian.

(I've been all around the globe and honestly, his accent didn’t match anything I’d expect from anyone named Williams.) He gave me this number, but there's no way I'm gonna risk calling it back. Got a call from some Asian guys saying they were from BT, telling me I needed to put on some remote access app on my iPhone because apparently my broadband was at risk. Thing is, my internet was working fine and they couldn’t provide any proper info about my account. All they did was give me a phone number for their "IT department" - 01793596931 - and said their name was Alex Mark with an employee ID BT11653. The call dragged on for over half an hour and they kept banging on about how my broadband might get hacked right now unless I acted fast. They warned that if I didn’t fix it immediately, BT wouldn't be responsible for any losses or data theft. Got a call from a guy claiming to be from BT Openreach, sounded like he was West Indian. He asked me about the lights on my router and their colours. Then he wanted me to get on my computer, saying I'd lose internet this Thursday because of lockdown. Gave me the number I’m sharing here. Definitely a scam.

Got a call from some bloke saying he was with BT, telling me my internet was compromised. I didn’t fall for it, but I reckon a less cautious person might. He wouldn’t verify my BT account details either. Then he asked me to enter something into my web browser - 100% a scam trying to hack my computer! Just hang up straight away and don’t share any info or follow their instructions!

They were saying they were from BT, telling me my IP address was at risk and they were the tech support who could sort it out. They seemed fine with you ringing them back to keep on scamming you - just be careful out there.

Pretty sure it was a scam. Someone called saying they were from BT, said my internet router was picking up harmful files and offered to fix it. They wanted details about the router lights - like how many and their colours. Then they passed me onto a "Tech Support" person. She asked which gadget I used mostly and told me to get Teamviewer from the app store. I pretended to go along with it but soon lost interest and just ended the call.

I got a call from someone with a dodgy accent who said he was Jason Fall from BT. When I asked for his head office number and some ID, he completely stuttered and hesitated. After that, he quickly hung up.

Got a call from someone claiming to be BT, telling me there's an issue with my internet. Thing is, my connection's working perfectly, full speed and all, plus I use a third party router. Total scam if you ask me.

Just got a call from a very polite young guy with an Asian accent saying my internet would be disconnected in less than a day. He kept insisting he wasn’t trying to scam me and needed to guide me through some steps on my laptop. Said his name was Daniel Smith, calling from London, with an ID code E158OC. Claimed to be from British Telecom Open Reach. When I told him I thought it was a scam, he tried to convince me otherwise with a pretty believable explanation. I asked how he got my info since I never consented to any data sharing under GDPR. He said my internet company had given them my licence number and instructed him to call me. I said I’d call my provider back. Despite that, he kept pushing for my laptop info. Really stubborn bloke.

Got two calls today from someone saying they were 'James' and 'Donny', claiming my BT broadband was hacked. When I asked for their number to double check with BT, and then told them I was onto their scam and would report it to the police, they just hung up on me.

Fraud alert - someone pretending to be from BT said there was a problem with my IP address security. I listened to her for a while, she gave a callback number 01793596931 but called me from a mobile 07746488468. She tried to get me to type things into my browser, but I didn’t do anything. She kept pushing even after I ended the call, then rang straight back. I told her she was wasting her time and it was a scam, then she hung up. DO NOT ENGAGE, JUST END THE CALL IMMEDIATELY!

So, this lady with an Asian accent called me saying there was an issue with my IP address. I told her I'd ring back and she gave me a number. Not long after, a man with an Asian accent called, saying he was her colleague and could fix it if I had internet and mobile access. I wasn’t bothered, so I said no thanks and he just ended the call!

Got a call from 00441793596931 the other day. The person said they were from BT Openreach and wanted to "fix" some problems with our router speed. I told them we actually use Virgin, but he insisted he was calling for Virgin. Then he asked me to get my laptop ready and said he’d connect me to a "specialist" tech advisor. He was oddly interested in how many devices we had and if I was actually right by the computer. It all felt really dodgy, so I looked up the number here and saw it was a scam. Ended the call straight away!

Got two calls from someone today saying there was something wrong with my internet. They wanted me to enter a run command on my PC to get some sort of reference code. When I said I wasn’t sure if he was legit, he got quite pushy and started shouting a bit. I never gave any details though, I just asked for his contact number (he said it was BT helpline) and he gave me a number. Looked it up on Google straight away and my suspicions were right! Definitely sounds dodgy.

01793596931 called me claiming to be from BT, saying there was suspicious activity on my internet. I asked for a callback number and he gave me this one. He said his name was Paul Harrison and that he’s part of the Technical Team. I think the same guy rang me about a month ago saying there was a problem with my bank account. Today, I told him I thought he was a fraudster. Stay sharp, folks, never share your bank or internet details with anyone.

Got a call supposedly from BT Openreach about my internet speed, the guy sounded like he had a southern Asian accent. He asked for info from my router but I told him I wasn’t sharing any details. I said I'd ring their official number myself. He gave me this number - 00441793596931 - but then tried saying it’d be hard for me to get through because everyone there was handling different problems, and that he could sort it out for me now. I just said no thanks and ended the call.

Someone phoned saying my line had been involved in dodgy activity and claimed they were from Openzone. Then they switched to trying to get me to buy an upgrade so they could grab my card details. Felt like a proper scam to me.

A bloke named Gary McOwen rang saying he was from BT Openreach and told me my router had suspicious activity happening from midnight to 5 am. He asked for my IP address to start some sort of updates. I told him I was busy at the moment and would get back to him later. The number he called from didn’t look familiar, so I used 1471 to check the caller before looking it up online.

Today I got a call from someone called "Alex Cooper" claiming to be from BT Openreach. He said my IP address was exposed and wanted to run a speed test on my internet. I told him I use a VPN 'cos I’m working, asked him for a callback number, which was 01793 596931. I looked it up online and found out it’s a known scam number, so I just ended the call.
