This definitely feels like a scam to me. Ive been getting phone calls from what seems to be the same place for the past couple weeks. I answered once and it was a person with a South African accent, so I just hung up. Later, I checked and the call really did come from South Africa. They even called me by my name, which makes me wonder how they got that info - maybe from a data breach somewhere? I reckon the Stratford phone number is faked too.

Got a scary ring from this number earlier, some debt collection firm called Zinc? The guy had a Scottish accent and really made it sound urgent, like a big problem. Only after a bit did I figure it was about some supposed mobile bill. They said I owed Vodafone for a data plan - he knew loads about me, I actually started doubting myself! Rang Vodafone and they sorted me out, said it’s a scam call and my account is all clear.

Zinc Group rang me askin for someone at my address. I told ’em they weren’t in and asked what it was regarding, but they wouldn’t say. They kept pressuring me for another contact number, which I refused to give. Then they said the person was away workin and that they’d keep callin. My reply was, sure, keep callin but they won’t pick up. I reckon Zinc Group’s linked to Vodafone. The strange part is, none of my housemates have ever had Vodafone, nor have they got any letters from them. Don’t pick up if you see 01789 405052 on your phone.

The caller was rather vague, insisting they couldn’t provide any information without me disclosing more. This raised red flags for me, especially considering I have recently lost family in that region, which made the whole conversation incredibly upsetting. They requested my name and address, to which I responded that they must already have that information if they were the ones ringing me. I pointed out that it could easily be verified on the electoral register. They then pressed for my date of birth, but I wasn't willing to share that, so we ended the call there.
