Got a couple of texts the other day from ‘Zinc Group’ telling me to ring a certain number about some debt supposedly linked to NatWest Bank. I’m pretty sure I don’t owe anything and never heard from anyone else about any debts. Feels a bit fishy to me.

Just to clear things up after reading some comments. This number is for the Zinc Group. Yeah, they chase debts for Natwest, but also loads of other companies. HOWEVER, they don’t officially represent Natwest or anyone else. They actually buy the debts for pennies on the pound, then hassle people and try to pressure them into paying the full amount. Debts don’t just disappear but do become unenforceable after 6 years from the original Default date, unless you’ve made payments or agreed to pay during that period.

This number is for a debt collector from Stratford upon Avon in Warwickshire, it’s not some dodgy scam call. They will only contact you if you owe money. The company’s name is The Zinc Group. The number is just a regular landline, so you shouldnt be charged any extra by your phone provider.

I’ve been getting loads of calls every day from this number and others, all asking to speak to ‘you only’, but when I ask who they want, they have no clue what my name is. One message said it was Zinc Management working for NatWest. The calls come from different places like London, Stratford Upon Avon and even Wales. The bloke on the phone seemed like he was fishing for as much info as he could since he clearly didn’t have much to start with.

Had a chat with a right plonker who tried to extract personal info with no good reason at all. It’s a proper scam, these scammers are everywhere. I’ve sent all the info to Action Fraud here in the UK. They should be locked up for ages, cos only the easily fooled or vulnerable would get caught out by these lowlife con artists. Be careful out there, everyone!

When this number rang, I didn’t pick up as it was unfamiliar. Later, I looked it up and suspected it was a scam. Then I got a text from another number claiming to be from Zinc Group, telling me the number above was theirs and saying my account had been handed over to them from Royal Bank of Scotland. Thing is, I’ve never held an RBS account or owed them money. To check if it was legit, I reached out to the FCA. The phone number they used was different, so I phoned the official number on the registry without giving any personal info. They told me this phone is linked to an account under some bloke’s name I don’t know. When I said I don’t recognise him, they assured me I wouldn’t get any more calls or texts. The whole ordeal was seriously stressful. They did apologise, but it’s such a huge mistake to put innocent people through this. I’d recommend contacting the FCA if you think you’re being scammed to get the facts. Fingers crossed I don’t get any messages from Zinc again.

Said they were with Zinc for some Natwest thing. It was pretty clear it was a scam as the phone quality was terrible, I could actually hear my own voice echo right after I spoke. The background noise sounded like they were calling from some sort of rusty shed. Definitely not how a genuine Natwest or any trustworthy firm would ring. My tip? Just block, steer clear, and report them straight away!

Today, I received a voicemail from this number. The guy was talking way too fast, so I had to replay the message about 7 times just to catch the phone number and some kind of reference number.
