For sure not a scam. I’ve cleared all my pending payments with them from HMRC. They phoned me a few times and even sent a letter. I double-checked all the details on the portal and spoke with Advantis straight away. The agent was really helpful, I’m grateful for that. It’s totally legit, so no need to panic.

Got a call from someone called Josh at Avansis or something, said he needed to discuss something personal with me. Before explaining who they were or what it was about, he asked me to verify my name and address. He even told me to look them up on Google if I wanted! The call felt really pushy and kinda stressy. When I checked the number online later, loads of people were saying it was a harassment call. Bit odd really.

A recorded woman with a posh accent said it was a 'free call' from 'Avantis' and asked me to call back on 01782 401 125. There was no mention of what it was about or why I needed to call urgently. Since then, I've had about a dozen calls left on my answering machine, sometimes two or three in one day. We're retired and these calls are really starting to worry us, especially as they’re coming quite regularly now. We have no idea how to make them stop! We never answer and would warn others not to, if they get anything like this message from that number.

HMRC will never call you out of the blue, they always send a letter first. Don’t ever share your info over the phone. If someone rings you, they should already have your details, so don’t give them anything else. Ask them to prove who they are by giving you your info instead. If they’re legit, they won’t have a problem with that.

Got a call from an Indian lady claiming she was from Her Majesty’s office, saying I owed taxes! Classic HMRC scam alert. These scammers from India pretend you have unpaid taxes and threaten to send the police round in an hour if you don’t pay up on the phone. Even though some real collection agencies can be quite harsh, scammers tend to go way overboard with loud, angry threats. They might claim you’re being sued right now or that the police are already involved and you could get arrested. Obviously, all these warnings are just lies.

they seem like a real firm. HMRC directed me to them about an overpayment related to working tax credits which we never actually claimed. I've been paying back about 1300 pounds, half goes to this company and the other half straight to HMRC. Is this a scam or what? - I really hate getting those robotic calls from debt collectors - makes me worry some dodgy bunch might show up at my door. I’m too scared to ring back, afraid it might either trigger a visit or be some kind of rip-off. The firm’s online, so surely there’s someone dishonest working there. It’s starting to feel a bit threatening. Had three calls already and I haven’t even done anything wrong.

Advantis are calling for HMRC, they dont actually take on the debt but are hired by HMRC to try and collect it. I think they only get compensated if they succeed, which is why they can come across as pushy. Its better to deal with HMRC yourself and pay them directly.

This same number has rung me up every week for about a month now? Managed to pick up today. Caller didn’t say who they were and asked me to verify a name that wasn’t mine. I told them they must’ve got the wrong person. Then they asked for my address, which I wasn’t about to share! They said they could remove me if I confirmed it wasn’t my address. Bit fishy, right? So basically, neither of us knows who the other is, and they're throwing data protection rules at me? No way. I ended the call.

We got a call from 0833 earlier - we use a call screening system where unknown numbers have to press ‘0’ if they’re legit, then hang up and ring back so we can answer properly. When someone presses ‘0’ we get a beep to let us know, and if we’re unsure, we save their info. Then the caller should ring back and we pick up. If they’re genuine we can whitelist them for next time, but if they’re a pain we block ‘em. This number called today, they must’ve pressed ‘0’ since we got the beep, but they never rang back, so looks like they didn’t really want to get through!

Sounds like a debt collector from HMRC to me, I think it was about some overpaid working tax credit.

Received a rather annoying call from this number at 5:45 in the morning, asking me to ring them back. Not sure I can be bothered to do so! I was under the impression that they weren’t allowed to call at such an ungodly hour. How frustrating!

It’s a debt collector, might be a good idea to sort it out soon before they start sending bailiffs to your door.

Advantis debt collection people were so rude, like some disrespectful kids, asking for your personal details. They claimed it was about HMRC but just ring HMRC yourself and sort it out straight away. Don’t waste your time with these idiots at all.

They rang me about a personal matter but along with the 01782401121 number they were really cheeky!! Refused to say who they were.

Advantis call on behalf of HMRC, mostly about claiming back tax credits that might've been overpaid. They’re pretty decent when you actually get to chat with them, and usually try really hard to sort things out if they can. If you're honest and upfront, there’s no reason to be stressed!

They rang me again at 8:23 this morning, I picked up and said “Advantis”, they asked for my daughter but used her maiden name. I told them she doesn’t live here. They claimed she’d phoned them from my number, which is rubbish since she’s married and has been living overseas for the last five years! I warned them to take my number off their list or I’d report them.

I'm at my wit's end with these incessant calls! No matter how many times I ignore them, the phone just keeps ringing. Can someone offer me a hand in sorting this mess out? It's driving me barmy!

I've been receiving persistent calls from this number, and they always leave voicemails urging someone who sounds like "Atlantis" to get in touch urgently. I've chosen not to pick up any of their calls and certainly have no plans to return the call.

Had to wait ages in the call centre, then got told to press 1. Asked to speak to the director or owner of (Company) and just hung up.

I've received numerous calls from this number, yet they never bother to answer when I attempt to return the call!

I got a voicemail from this number meant for Francis or Frances but there's nobody by that name at my place. They didn’t say who they were or why they were calling. If they’re debt collectors like some others reckon, they must have dialled the wrong number or maybe someone gave them mine by mistake!

Best just ignore if they’re being rude, no need to waste your time.

Got a recorded message from "Advantis" telling me to press 1 to chat with someone or another number to stop getting calls. I've blocked them and reported it to the ICO now.

Avantis keeps ringing me and leaving a voicemail asking me to call back but never saying why. It’s been like this, one call a week for quite some time now.

Vantis called and wanted to talk to a Company Director but wouldn’t say what it was about. Given it’s a business number, made me a bit wary. I played along and said I’d leave a message. Feels quite dodgy to me.

This morning, just after ten on Saturday, I received a phone call from a woman wanting to have a chat with me. However, when I asked her the purpose of the call, she insisted on going through Data Protection protocols first, which I found rather odd. Naturally, I refused to disclose any personal details without knowing who I was conversing with and what it was all about. She claimed they had previously sent me some letters, but I’ve never seen a thing from Advantis! In the end, she mentioned she'd drop me another letter. I've since decided to block the number.

A lady called my husband claiming she had previously dealt with him in some business matter. When he probed for more information, she became evasive and insisted she couldn't specify anything over the phone but stressed how urgent it was for her to speak with him. She then started asking for his personal details, which prompted him to hang up immediately.

I happened to find a message lurking on my answering machine earlier. Gave it a listen, and lo and behold, it was from Advantis! Can you believe they had the nerve to ring me at half two in the morning? What kind of logic is that? Feels rather suspicious, doesn't it? I reckon it might just be one of those automated calls. Truth be told, I’m debt-free, so there’s really no reason for them to reach out to me at such an ungodly hour.

Got a call the other day from some debt recovery firm claiming to be collecting for HMRC. Sounded a bit dodgy to me. Might be worth double checking if they’re legit before handing over any info.
