Just like loads of others have said here, as soon as I asked if it was the local council calling, they hung up on me right away.

29 July 2020, around 3 in the afternoon. A bloke called me, sounded like the usual script mentioned above. When I asked for more info, he said some woman would come by with the details. Then he just cut the call. Felt quite iffy so I tried ringing back, but the number came up as “number not recognised.” No idea what he wanted, but it definitely left me feeling uneasy.

Just like the comment before me, there was a pause just before they said my name. I got a call from a guy named Terry who claimed he was working on a new safety initiative aimed at people aged 50 to 90 around here. He said the scheme offered quicker access to emergency services and then mentioned fees for this ‘service’. He talked about them supplying simple gear like an alarm button. He went on about having agents nearby and asked when would be convenient for someone to call back and go over the details. I told him, definitely not.

There was silence at first and then someone said my name, checking if it was really me. But just as I was about to reply, the call got cut off. The number's not familiar to me at all.

Got a call from a lady claiming she was contacting me for a security initiative aimed at people aged 50 to 85 due to a rise in crime nearby. She claimed this would let me get priority help from the police or emergency services without having to ring 999. She knew my full address and a few personal bits. When I said I wasn’t happy about the call, she just hung up on me.
