It’s so annoying when they ring me up. I told them straight away I wasn’t involved in any car crash and definitely don’t have any PPI claims. Every question she asked, my answer was a firm no. When she asked why they had my number, I told her some muppet must be selling people’s details, like names and numbers, to idiots like them who just bother folks for no reason. She hung up, but I bet they’ll try again tomorrow. If they do, I’m thinking of giving them a taste of their own medicine and trying to sell them something daft, like a chocolate teapot or a hairdryer for under water. I’m sick of constantly having to charge my phone because these wastes of time keep calling and draining the battery.

I kept asking the bloke where he got my info from, and he said I must have clicked some box on a website saying I agreed to be contacted by other firms about products or services. When I asked which website or who it belonged to, he had no idea. He said his firm, Redstar, was told to give me a ring, but when I kept pressing him to say who exactly had requested this, he couldn’t answer and kept going on about PPI and credit cards from around 200 to 2011. I told him flat out to take my info off their system and not call me again, then he just hung up.

Today I finally answered and it was a polite woman who used my name and said she was ringing about some kind of private pension I supposedly had with an old employer. I just let her carry on talking for a bit. Then she asked when I last got a statement from them. That’s when I asked her who she said she was working for, and she just hung up straight away. The person on the other end only knew my old address and kept pushing that I was owed a refund on some finance from before 2009 with one of the banks he mentioned. I told him I didn’t have an account with any of those banks (which was true). He then said he’d just give the money back to the bank, asking if that was alright. I told him fine, go ahead. Please don’t get caught out by these dodgy calls - I’m worried someone who’s more vulnerable could easily get tricked as he was really persistent.

There's this place called Redstar, they deal with PPI claims. I looked them up online and found they've got a website with a free 0800 contact number. When I mentioned to them that I was getting loads of calls, they said they'd ring me back on the number that's getting bombarded and then add me to their do-not-call list. Gave it a go today, fingers crossed it actually makes a difference! From what I gather, they probably got my digits because I filled in some survey or form online without properly noticing the small print about sharing info with other companies and all that.

Its from a PPI firm named Redstar. If you search them up, they’ve got a website with a free 0800 contact. When you ring and explain you’ve been receiving loads of calls, they’ll call you back on the number that’s been getting those calls, then they put you on a do not call list. I tried this myself today. Not sure if it’s working yet but fingers crossed! They must get your number after you fill out a survey or put your number in one of those online forms without noticing the fine print about sharing your data with others.
