SCAM ALERT!!! Some bloke called saying my father-in-law owed £1100 in taxes and the police were coming to arrest him! The guy had an accent, sounded Asian. When my father-in-law said he'd get a lawyer, the caller just hung up. Planning to ring 101 and report it, fingers crossed the police do something about it.

Got a robotic voicemail saying HMRC are taking me to court, press 1 to talk to someone about the case. I rang 101, the non-emergency police, and they told me there wasn’t much they could do right now since it’s not harassment if it’s just the one call and nobody threatened me. Still, it did unnerve me a bit. I told them I'd seen loads of people online saying they got the same calls. They suggested I get in touch with my phone company and block the number altogether.

Today around 12:55 in the afternoon, I got a call. Since I've got BT Call Guardian set up, it didn’t say who was calling, so I just ended it straight away. After seeing all the comments here, I’ve gone ahead and blocked the number. It’s really ridiculous that these scumbags are still able to keep pestering folks like this!

Today, this number rang up and my 67-year-old mum got a recorded message saying HMRC were taking legal action against her and to press 1 to chat to someone about it. She just ended the call straight away - must be from her 35 years working at a bank that she knew it was dodgy. Absolute con artists, honestly. They should be put behind bars or sent out of the country because I’m certain they’re not local.

Got a call from 01618506336 earlier on 17/1/2017. They claimed HMRC was taking me to court, but it was clearly an automated message. Seems like one of those scams going around. Honestly, how can folks like this sleep at night? Proper scammers, no doubt. Don’t even think about replying, and make sure your family, especially the older ones, knows about it. Something needs to be done to stop these so-called "people" - and I say that word with a pinch of salt!

Today, I got a call from someone who sounded like a total scammer. When he asked me to confirm my name, I flipped it and asked who he was trying to reach instead. Right after that, he just hung up on me. I can’t help thinking these scammers might be getting info from someone inside HMRC because I did get an official-looking letter from HMRC just last Friday. At first, I thought the call was a genuine follow-up because of that letter. BUT, as far as I’m aware, HMRC almost never ring people - they usually just send letters. So watch out for this kind of trick!

Got a call from some HMRC scam, said I made mistakes on my tax returns from 2010 to 2015 and now there’s a legal action coming my way. I told them I don’t handle my own taxes, my accountant sorts them out, then they just ended the call right away!

Got a call from this number earlier today claiming I had some unpaid tax to sort, saying if I didn’t pay up right away, a bobbie would show up at my door cuffing me. Of course, the bloke had an Asian accent. When I asked him for his name and some proof to check if this was legit, he just hung up on me. Just another scammer trying their luck, and thankfully I caught on before anything dodgy happened.

My elderly mum and dad got a call from this number and sadly got caught up in a scam. The person on the other end pretended to be from the Department for Work and Pensions, saying they’d been overpaid by a large sum. After loads of threatening calls from this awful person, my parents felt pressured and ended up sending money via iTunes vouchers to avoid being thrown in jail.
