I got a recorded call saying it was HMRC and threatening legal action unless I pressed 1 to talk to someone. Didn’t actually get to press anything though as it just dumped me in a voicemail. Totally a scam, HMRC wouldn’t handle things like that. It comes across really official and intimidating, which could be quite alarming for anyone, especially those who live alone and don’t have someone nearby to double-check if it’s legit.

I got a call from 0161 850 6324 claiming to be HMRC, threatening legal action if I didn’t pay up some money I supposedly owed - which I definitely don’t. Then the very next day, I got another call with the exact same message but the number was 0161 850 7273. Seems like just the same scam but using a different phone number.

They’ve rang me three times and left a message asking me to press 1 to get in touch with my caseworker. I tried calling back and someone picked up but as soon as I started talking, they just hung up. I rang again and it went straight to voicemail so I left a clear message saying what I thought. This kind of call is just a pest and honestly shouldn’t be allowed. It could really stress people out for no reason, it needs to be put to an end.

I got a call from someone pretending to be from HMRC, and I accidentally hit option 1 before realising it was a scam. A guy with an Asian accent picked up and asked for my name. When I asked who he was, he shouted loudly, "What's your name?" Then I heard him talkin to someone else nearby, saying something like "what’s wrong with this daft woman?" I’m definitely gonna report this since they called my folks’ landline.

Like some folks have said before, I was curious about what would occur if I actually hit "press 1 to speak with an agent." It turned out the number showed as "International 0161-850 6324." Surely OFCOM or some authority should be keeping an eye on these numbers and stopping them from being allowed onto our UK networks, especially since the calls clearly show fake Caller ID details. It’s not difficult tech to spot. And honestly, why is it even allowed to fake Caller ID? If the call only showed “International,” most people would immediately sense it’s dodgy.

My 70 year old mum got a call from 0161 8506324, not just once but twice, and it really upset her. What’s wrong with these horrible people? They’re such scumbags. Don’t press one if they ask. Mum made the mistake of calling back the first time, and some guy with a really thick American accent answered. It was all a bit worrying honestly.

This morning, at about half past ten and then again around half past twelve on 17/7/2018, I got two automated calls from this number claiming to be from HMRC threatening legal action. I hung up straight away. Luckily, I looked the number up afterwards and found this helpful site. Such a dodgy scam, it really should be shut down.
