He said straight away he wasn’t trying to sell me anything, but then wanted me to confirm some personal info - actually mentioned my own address! I didn’t give him any details, though. When I kept pressing him on who he was and where he was ringing from, he just ended the call. I’ve blocked the number now.

Got a call from someone claiming to be Virgin Media, saying my internet was running really slow. But the person on the phone had an accent from the Indian subcontinent and wanted to get remote access to my computer, which I thought sounded dodgy. Then when I told them I’m not with Virgin, they switched and said it was connected to BT Openreach. Thing is, BT Openreach was renamed and now it’s just Openreach, which doesn’t do cold calls anyway. Pretty obvious it was a scam from the get go.
