I've gotten calls from this number quite a few times. I just stay quiet and wait for them to say something, but they never bother to. I've got spinal problems that make this kinda thing stressful and painful. I don’t hang up straight away though. I wonder if keeping the line open racks up charges for them, assuming they're the ones paying the phone bill. It’s a Manchester number - can’t it be pinpointed to where exactly it’s coming from? Maybe I could go there and give them a piece of my mind, or even get some scam alert signs put up outside their building?

Got a call from someone saying my PPI claim went through and I was owed £2998. They even mentioned my address and when I asked for my name, they said it but I told them I no longer live there. Right after that, they just hung up. Definitely a scam, no doubt about it.

I recently received a rather dodgy phone call from someone posing as a representative of Microsoft. They went on about a supposed email breach, probing into whether I owned any cryptocurrency, insisting that I was in jeopardy of being scammed or hacked. They even suggested they could 'safeguard' my crypto by providing me with an address for it. It's a blatant attempt to swindle people out of their crypto assets! Stay alert and don’t fall for this trickery!

Got a call from BT, they wanted me to confirm my name and said I was owed some money back. I just ended the call straight away.

Some bloke called up saying I was owed a refund from BT for £2400. I played along at first. He asked if I lived at this certain address and then wanted my date of birth. I said, “Let me guess, you’ll be after my bank details next?” When I said it sounded like a scam, he tried to deny it. I told him if he wanted to waste my time, I’d happily waste his. That's when he just cut me off.

On the 12th of April 2023, I got a call from 01618187386. The caller spoke with a foreign accent and claimed to be from the PPI department of Canary Claims. He said I had some money due to a loan with Nationwide. When he asked for my sort code and account number, I said no. I offered a cheque, but he said they don’t do that. I then told him to call back after I’d done some research. I also found out Canary Claims is based in London, not Manchester!

He asked which bank I wanted the money transferred to. It was clear right away this was dodgy, so I decided to humour him a bit. I kept saying, "just send me a cheque!" but he kept pressing for my mortgage bank details. I repeated, "send me a cheque, or just forget it," and finally I said good afternoon and hung up. Funny thing is, I’ve never even made a PPI claim in my life!
