I had a call from someone who claimed to have info about me being in some sort of work accident. They even used my real name, which freaked me out a bit. I told them I’ve never done any kind of hands-on job, so it was obviously nonsense. Then they started talking about me being in the military - which I’m not. I asked how they found my number, and just like that, they ended the call. Since my number’s been on the TPS list for ages, I reported this straight away. Whether that’ll help or not, who knows? They’re probably just gonna keep ringing from different numbers anyway.

Cold callers would probably give up if everyone just ignored them. The thing is, some folks still take the bait, so they keep going. Me personally, I never answer or respond. And whenever a company keeps on ringing or sending stuff I didn’t ask for, I make a point never to deal with them. I’ve done this a few times now and it’s worked well.

To me, this feels like one of those companies just trying to dig up info. They outright said TPS doesn’t affect them and GDPR isn’t relevant. When I mentioned it was a pestering cold call, they promised to remove my number. I had to remind them they shouldn't have had my details at all, and only then did they say sorry. Got a call from 01617685682 about some industrial work I supposedly had done before. Absolute rubbish, so I just hung up quick. These annoying calls, which come from numbers that only change slightly, seem to be from round Manchester. They keep phoning me, obviously trying to rip people off. Wish there was a way to block them for good because it’s really getting on my nerves. Feels like there’s a whole bunch of muppets out there wasting their time scamming folks. What a pathetic hobby.

Lately, we've been inundated with persistent cold calls, despite being registered with the Telephone Preference Service. It’s got to the point where we feel compelled to leave our answering machine on just to keep tabs on who's trying to reach us. One number, 01617685682, has been particularly active - we’ve received as many as two calls a day from them. They never leave a message, which certainly suggests it's just another cold caller. We’re hesitant to return the call, as we worry it might incur costs for a call we never intended to receive in the first place.

They said it came from someone I live with. I joked that unless my dog’s been gossiping on Britain’s Got Talent, that can’t be right. Then I told them not to call again and hung up while they were still trying to ask more questions.
