Got a call from some unknown number with a Manchester code. It went to my voicemail but I haven't a clue who it could be or what they want. After reading some of the comments, it sounds like they’re probably not up to anything good. I've just blocked the number now.

Just got a call moments ago claiming to be from the 'Energy Savings Trust', said it wasn’t a nuisance call (I’m the one to decide that). I asked why they didn’t check the TPS list since we’re on it, and she said she wasn’t required to because it’s a 'Government backed scheme'. I told her I wasn’t interested and hung up. These calls are a real pain and ought to be banned. Being a business, we have no choice but to pick up the 'phone.

They claimed to be a business involved in implementing an energy-saving initiative in our locality. They insisted on asking me "a few questions," but I politely declined and ended the call. In hindsight, I feel grateful for my decision, especially after perusing various comments online about their dubious practices.

Got a call from Direct Energy. They actually knew my name and were pushing some Energy Saver deal that could supposedly cut my energy and water bills by 35% without switching suppliers. They asked if someone could pop by since they were nearby. Sounds like a scammer probably parked a bit down the road. Probably one of those double glazing or boiler replacement offers. The woman was polite, but I said I’d already sorted my savings and wasn’t interested, cheers. Number’s blocked now.

They rang me this morning while I was out, and then kept calling every twenty minutes, even though they just got my voicemail. I'm absolutely sick to death of these nuisances!

Got a call from this number at 11:02 on 17/10/2018. I noticed the area code and decided to let the answerphone answer it. But as soon as the message started playing, they hung up before it even finished.

Got a call from a woman named Morgan who said she’s with some Government Scheme offering 30% savings or something like that. She asked if I owned my home and I said yes. Then she wanted to know if it was joint ownership, I said yes again, and then she just ended the call straight away!

These idiots rang our home phone earlier, and as per usual, they hang up once the answerphone picks up. I reckon the Caller ID is faked, so don't be fooled into thinking it's a Manchester number. These scammers program their gear to call loads of numbers at once, so I've made our answerphone kick in after just two rings. Hopefully, this annoys them since our line is often the first to pick up in their list!

Gave me a bell earlier today. As soon as I mentioned that I wasn't really keen on what they were offering, they cut me off before I could finish my thought. I generally try to be polite to cold callers, but honestly, it’s becoming increasingly hard when a lot of them are so incredibly discourteous.

They’ve called me a few times too, like others mentioned, when I pick up and stay quiet you can hear loads of office chatter and people talking in the background, then they just end the call. So I’ve decided to block the number now.

I received a call where the person on the other end was inquiring about my name and address. When I requested to know who I was speaking with, the lady on the line told me not to be so impolite before abruptly ending the conversation.

It was evident that she was unprepared for my probing questions and was improvising her responses. I must admit, I was rather curt with her, as it was my elderly mother’s phone that she was calling, even though it’s registered with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS). Although the caller was quite polite, she was noticeably aggressive in her approach. My primary concern is that this business is clearly flouting the TPS regulations, just like numerous others that bombard my mother with incessant calls throughout the day. On average, she gets about 8 to 10 calls daily, with some days racking up to a staggering 15. I took the step of registering her number with the TPS because of her fragile health, as she really needs her peace and quiet. It’s about time the TPS was granted some real authority, because, as it stands, signing up has proven utterly ineffective.
