On 16/04/22 at about 9 in the morning, I got a call from a woman who sounded like she wasn’t from around here. She wanted to chat with Mrs. Fielding, who used to live here before me. I told her the only way she could speak to her was with some kind of ouija board because Mrs. Fielding passed away 13 years ago.

Typical scam again… They were talking about a £119 refund just like others mentioned. I told them my washing machine was rubbish (which it isn’t!), then I just hung up on them. Too dodgy for me.

I got a call from someone claiming to be Sara Smith, said she was from a home appliances company. She told me I was owed £119.00 as a refund for a washing machine I supposedly bought back in 2021. Then she asked for my bank details to sort out the refund. Thing is, I never bought any washing machine from them, so I didn’t share any info. This is definitely a scam, so be warned and don’t give out your bank info!

I had an interesting chat with a chap named "Shaun" regarding a refund for my washing machine. It all revolved around some so-called free warranty. I asked him how it was possible to overpay for something that was meant to be free. He was rather insistent, so I suggested he have a word with my husband. He took the bait and, to my astonishment, flat out told my husband, "Don’t take any notice of your wife, she's talking rubbish!" Then, when my husband calmly pointed out that he was a police officer, Shaun suddenly got flustered and claimed my husband was being aggressive. Not long after, the call came to an abrupt end. What a coincidence, eh?

Got a phone call today from a woman who said her name was Pauline Matthews and that she was calling from Homeserve. She claimed I was owed £119 because of an overcharge on a washing machine warranty. She knew a few of my details, but then asked for my bank info to sort out the refund. I didn’t feel right about it and refused. It all sounded a bit fishy to me. I told her to just email me instead - who just offers random refunds out of the blue? Just a warning to everyone about these kinds of calls.

I received a phone call today stating I could collect a £119 refund for my washing machine warranty. They claimed to be calling from "Homecare." The trouble is, they used my wife's surname, which is completely different to mine, mentioned a brand of washer that I've never owned, and I've never had a warranty in the first place! They were keen to get my bank details to process this so-called refund. Not a chance I’m falling for that!

Got a call from an Indian guy trying to sell some home repair services. Funny thing is, last time he rang from this very number, it was about giving me a refund for some washing machine insurance I'd supposedly overpaid. When I asked him if I actually wanted the call, he just said no and hung up. Honestly, just another scam in the mix. Seriously, why can’t they be stopped already?

Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent, and you could hear loads of other voices in the background like a busy call centre. She said they wanted to “refund an overpayment on my washing machine warranty” for £119. She knew my full name and even recited my address and postcode. Then she asked if I wanted the money put into my current or savings account. I told her I’d rather have a cheque sent out since they obviously had my details. Right after that, she just cut me off - bit suspicious, don’t you think?

I received a phone call from this number earlier today. An Asian woman was on the line, claiming that I had paid too much-specifically, £119-on my washing machine insurance. I can't shake off the feeling that she was likely gearing up to request my bank details for a supposed refund. When I asked her to confirm the name of the insurance company, she abruptly cut the call. Quite dodgy, if you ask me!

I can't recall her name, but like loads of others, she was trying to refund me £119 for my washing machine. I kept telling her no and she got annoyed quickly. She asked for my bank info but I said just send a cheque instead. Still, she insisted on getting all my details. Total scam, watch out!

Got a call from a lady named Michelle, sounded Asian and had a strong accent. She claimed there was fraud happening on my Barclays account. Mentioned a name, address, and postcode that definitely wasn’t mine. I told her she had the wrong person and said I don't even have a bank account. Then I told her to basically piss off - used the phrase 'go forth and multiply' exactly.

I got a call from someone claiming they were Homecare and said I was due £119 back on my washing machine warranty. They then asked for my bank details to sort out the refund. I told them to just use the account they already have on record. That seemed to annoy them quite a bit as I wasn’t handing over any info. I asked for their phone number so I could call them back to confirm it was all legit. That’s when they abruptly hung up on me.

I was informed that I was to receive a refund of £119.00 for my washing machine warranty, as apparently, I had been erroneously billed for it twice. When I requested a cheque for the refund, he insisted that I share my banking details first. I wasn’t comfortable with that and refused. To be clear, I’ve never even taken out a warranty for my washing machine in the first place!

So, this bloke called saying I was due a £119 refund for some washing machine insurance, and then he asked for my bank details right away. I said I’d be happy to get the refund and asked if he could just post me a cheque instead. At that point, guess what? He just hung up on me!

She seemed to know my name and claimed she was phoning to issue a refund for some washing machine insurance. I found it rather amusing since I've never taken out such a policy! I chuckled and immediately shared the story with my husband. It seems that the young lady didn't appreciate the banter and abruptly hung up on me.

I recently received a phone call that had a bit of a delay before it actually connected. The person on the other end had a strong accent reminiscent of an Indian call centre, which was quite surprising given the landline number they was using. They claimed that I was owed a refund of about £119 because I’d allegedly been overcharged on my washing machine warranty. I straight away let them know that I hadn’t had a warranty in place for several years. I can only imagine that had I been gullible enough to believe the tale, they would have wanted my bank details to process the so-called "refund" - more like a theft, if you ask me!

Requesting a refund for the insurance on my washing machine. It's a bit of a hassle, to be honest!

An Indian-accented woman rang me up claiming to be from BT Openreach. She attempted to provide me with a code, which I gathered was meant for me to enter on a website, allowing her to access my computer. I quickly challenged her authenticity, stating she clearly wasn’t with Openreach, but she kept maintaining otherwise. I expressed my disapproval, saying it was disgraceful, and she repeatedly told me to be quiet. Eventually, I hung up the phone.

I got a call about some sort of "homeware refund" or whatever, and I just told them to buzz off, figured it was a scam. Decided to look up the number afterwards and yup, my gut was spot on. I reckon going unlisted might be a good move since they actually had my name.

Got a call from 0161 520 2136, some Asian lady asking if I was Mrs Smith. I told her I wasn’t, and she just said “alright” before hanging up. I'm on the TPS and my number's ex-directory, so a bit odd.

Today, the individual I assist received a rather suspicious call from this number. The caller claimed to be offering a refund for an overcharged washing machine insurance policy and was rather keen on getting our bank details. I made it clear that we preferred a cheque instead, but she insisted it wasn't an option. When I reiterated that we wouldn’t be disclosing any personal information over the phone, she abruptly terminated the call. Quite dodgy, if you ask me!

I was sorting out a refund for my washing machine and wanted them to send a cheque with a confirmation letter. But the person on the phone from 0161 5202136 kept pushing for my bank info. I stood my ground asking for the cheque instead, and then they just ended the call. Proper dodgy.

I get calls pretty much every month for the last couple of years from this number, always asking for Mr Dunne. When I asked what it was about, they said it's some sort of home help service. Normally, it’s an Asian woman who rings, but sometimes an Asian bloke answers instead.

I’ve had a couple of calls recently from a woman with an Asian accent, a bit tricky to catch what she's saying, but seemed to be about some sort of refund. Definitely not the first time this topic’s come up in the past few days.

Some woman with an Asian accent, saying her name was Sarah Smith, rang me about a refund on a washing machine I supposedly bought. She asked for my bank info to "process" a refund of £119.99, but whenever I gave her the details from my cheque book, she kept saying I was wrong. Felt really dodgy to me, probably a scam.

I received a rather dubious phone call today from someone claiming that I had a refund waiting for me due to some overpayment on a Hotpoint washing machine warranty. Strangely enough, she knew my name and pressed me for my bank details-both for my current and savings accounts, mind you! When I hesitated, she turned quite confrontational, raising her voice and insisting that I must want my money back. The caller was a woman with a noticeable accent that didn't quite sound local. Just a heads up to everyone out there: I've never even owned a Hotpoint washing machine, so I'm suspicious. Stay alert for this sort of nonsense!

Got a call earlier today, sounded like one of those auto dialler things. I reckon you could even hear some scammer call centre noise in the background for a bit before they just ended the call. Bit strange, right? Why bother calling if they’re just gonna hang up? Pretty clear it’s just scammy behaviour.

This number rang me up and the guy introduced himself as Lucifer. Claimed I’d been wrongly charged for a washing machine warranty a year back and said he wanted to sort out my refund. Then he passed the call onto a woman beside him, but I couldn’t quite catch her name. When she started saying I was entitled to a refund, I immediately cut the call. Pretty sure the next move would’ve been to ask for my bank or card info. Total scam, in my opinion. I always just end the call and never share any info.

I received a call from a chap named Sean Miller regarding some bank particulars for a refund related to my Appliance Insurance. I managed to put him off by requesting that he send all the necessary details through the post, as I prefer not to discuss such matters over the phone. He suggested getting a supervisor involved, but I kindly asked for a contact number to ring him back since I didn't have the information readily available. After our conversation, I took to the internet to dig up more information on the subject.

Curiously enough, she seemed to know who I was, leading me to believe that perhaps my details were plucked from a mailing list sold off ages ago, likely from an online retailer dealing in electronic gadgets. It's been yonks since I’ve even thought about insuring my appliances - it hardly seems worthwhile these days. Her accent had a hint of Eastern European or maybe Scandinavian about it. Moreover, there was this Home Care Insurance outfit keen on discussing a supposed refund related to my appliance insurance - I can't quite remember which one it was, possibly the washing machine?

Just had a rather similar experience to many others - an Asian gentleman was on the line, proposing a refund of £119 for a supposed 'payment' I made regarding insurance for a washing machine, which he claimed was charged to my credit card. He insisted he couldn’t process the refund back to the card because the details had altered (though they haven’t at all in recent memory), and he requested my bank account information instead. He seemed to know my name and address straight away. I mentioned that I would look into whether any payment had actually gone through before we continued the conversation - perhaps later in the week. But before I knew it, the call ended without any further ado.
