If you check with o2 directly they’ll tell you they dont just ring up customers randomly, anyone saying this is legit is just lying and probably helping the scammers out. After speaking more with o2 it looks like some dodgy ex-worker is using stolen info to pull off a scam.

Picked up the phone and they said it was O2, so I just hung up. Later I got in touch with O2 through their live chat on their site and they told me it really was them ringing.

I rang the number back and it was just an automated voice from O2. The recording said to hit 2 if you want to opt out of their service or press another key to talk to someone.

Picked up the phone and told them my name and that my number finished with those digits. Didn’t want to give my address though, so I ended the call. Oddly, they still sent me a code after I’d already hung up - could’ve let them open a new O2 account pretending to be me. Really glad I ended the call when I did! Best not to reply or share any info!

This bloke claimed to be from o2 but when I told him I was upset about a random number calling me, he insisted it wasn’t random and that it was o2. I said I got a fraud warning on my o2 phone so I’d call back if that’s true. He kept pushing that he was from o2 and could send me a text, wouldn’t take no for an answer. Had to be quite firm and told him I wasn’t happy to talk, then hung up. Best just block it and phone o2 yourself directly.

I wasn’t sure if it was genuine but the message came from an O2 number I’ve seen before, so I’m a bit clueless on whether to trust it or not.

Im fairly certain its actually O2 since i called the number back and it went through to O2 customer support or something like that. If u google the number, some bloke messaged O2 on Facebook using his number and they said yep, it’s them.

got calls from 01542308218 and 01332827968 earlier today too. one from cannock, another derby and last one manchester. all saying there’s a computer problem. seem to mess around with the area codes so you can’t block them. the voice sounded asian.

It was some bloke, sounded like he was in one of those call centres, just saying “hello?... hello?” then hanging up. Definitely a bit of a laugh with these lads, if you ask me.

When they do, I’m gonna mess with them a bit, feed them some dodgy info, maybe play a recording of monkeys screeching in the background and pretend I’m stuck with some kind of mad person begging for help. Got a weird call from someone saying they were with O2. They never asked for personal info, just checked if I was the account holder. Then they asked about my experience with the service here and if anyone else in the house has an O2 phone. They mentioned some deals but seemed a bit vague about actually talking about them! Like I said, it was a pretty odd call that made me feel a bit uneasy, but I don't think they got anything from me.

this number called me but left no voicemail. i called back and got an answer machine saying it was 02 and not to worry, that they’d try again. seems a bit fishy to me. why expect a proper chat only when it suits them? why show a number if they’re never gonna pick up? i thought 02 was a legit firm and would actually take calls. seems silly not to use a real number they actually answer on. anyway, not sure how genuine they are, just going off what they said.
