They say they’re from Green Energy and are offering heating grants for folks on benefits. If you don’t qualify, they just hang up straight away. Trying to press 9 to get taken off their list is pointless because they keep ringing back nonstop. Seriously, there should be laws against this kind of persistent calling! The TPS doesn’t seem to help at all. BT can block the number, but only if it’s a personal line - business lines just get bombarded, which is really frustrating.

Today I got a call but as soon as my answer machine picked up, they just hung up. I rang back and a recorded voice claiming to be from green energy came on, saying to press 9 if I wanted to be taken off their call list. Our number’s registered with the TPS (telephone preference service), so these lot are clearly ignoring the rules. Such scammers just don’t care about the law.

This number has been buzzing me for ages! Sometimes I pick up, other times I just let it ring. I've told them multiple times to stop calling and remove me from their list, but they keep at it. The other day I actually listened to the whole spiel. Turns out they're offering to help you claim back money from your bank if you've ever had certain paid packages, like those monthly fee ones that give you discounts. They said it's similar to PPI claims but for different products. I said I was interested but didn’t have my bank details handy. They said no worries, they’d send me an email with info and arrange for a rep to come by, maybe around noon on Wednesday, so I could sign the paperwork and sort out my details. The email basically repeated what the calls said. On the day, I got an email and text reminder about the visit, with a number to ring if I wanted to cancel. I ended up cancelling, though. Honestly, it did sound legit, but I caught them mentioning a fee of around 37 or 39% from whatever amount they recover. So although it seems above board, you'd end up losing a big chunk. Around 6:10pm my phone buzzed, showing a number I didn’t recognise. As soon as I answered, I could hear a lot of background noise - classic tell-tale sign it was a call centre. The bloke came on quickly, introducing himself and the company - something with Gordon in the name. Once I realised it was one of those sales calls, I just told him I wasn’t interested and ended the call straight away. Best advice I've got: don’t say a word on these calls because they probably record you, hoping you’ll say “YES” or something like that, which they might use for dodgy loan stuff or scams. My tip? I've gotten about ten calls from this number over the past week. I picked up one time and a woman asked for me but by my maiden name. She said she was from some place called Liquid Line or something like that. When I asked how she got my number, she just repeated that name. I told her thanks and then hung up and blocked the number.
