Just got the identical thing happen to me. Totally feels like a rip-off.

So I got a call saying I had a cheque for £7900.41 because I’d apparently overpaid a government loan. They asked if someone could come round with the cheque, then gave me a number to ring back and a reference number. Honestly, sounded pretty dodgy to me.
