I recently encountered an identical pop-up message on my computer, much like what others have reported. It all began with a rather convincing American voice, purporting to be from Microsoft, warning me that my computer would be rendered inoperable if I failed to call a specific number within five minutes - all in the name of safeguarding Microsoft’s interests, no less. In a bit of a panic, I dashed over to my iPad and googled the number, which led me to this very site. Following in the footsteps of those before me, I opted to shut down my device and restart it, fingers crossed that everything would be alright. The most challenging part was trying to clear that pesky message from my screen; even after rebooting, it stubbornly reappeared the moment I opened my web browser again. I ended up clicking the close button incessantly, about fifty times, until it finally vanished. After that, I ran another virus scan just to be safe before resuming any normal activity.

I got a popup telling me to ring a number to sort out my computer problems. The bloke on the phone seemed genuine at first, but he only told me the company name after I asked. He kept pushing me to pay up, warning that some ‘bad guy’ would steal my ID otherwise. The call dropped suddenly, but then he rang back and tried to scam me again. Don’t be fooled by this lot, it’s definitely a con!

I received an unexpected pop-up on my screen suggesting I contact this number for assistance with my computer woes. The chap on the other end appeared quite convincing initially, but when I pressed him for the name of his so-called company, he dodged the question. He kept pushing me to cough up some cash to rectify my computer issues, claiming that failure to do so could lead to my identity being exploited by what he described as a 'malicious user'. The call abruptly ended, but, lo and behold, he rang me again in an attempt to pull the wool over my eyes. Please, take heed and don’t get caught in this trickery! It’s nothing more than a scam!

I had this number flash up on my screen, claiming my computer was compromised and urging me to ring them. Curiosity got the better of me, so I did. When I got through, the person at the other end was quite baffling, to say the least. I decided to hang up pretty quickly. To my surprise, they called me back from a withheld number, same chap on the line. I inquired about where he was based, but instead of answering, he just kept repeating, "You rang me, how can I assist?" At that point, I realised I was dealing with a right charlatan. I ended the call without a moment's hesitation. There are some right dodgy scammers out there, aren’t there?

I encountered a rather dubious situation where a supposed virus alert popped up on my computer. The message instructed me to dial a number, claiming to be from Microsoft and situated in Manchester. They insisted I follow some procedures to rectify the issue on my machine. However, the moment I suggested it might be a scam, the individual abruptly ended the call. Quite suspicious, if you ask me!

A rather alarming pop-up appeared on my computer, insisting that I had a virus and to call the number displayed. It menaced that my computer would be locked down in five minutes if I didn't act swiftly. In a panic, I switched off my device and restarted it without any internet connection. After running a virus scan, thankfully, nothing alarming was found. Once I reconnected to the web, everything seemed to function normally. I chose not to contact the number, as I've heard from others that those behind it are often scammers looking to extract money from unsuspecting individuals.

A warning suddenly appeared on my laptop saying I had a virus and to call the number shown or my computer would be locked in five minutes. I quickly switched it off and restarted without internet. Ran a virus scan and found nothing. Then I restarted again with internet on and everything seems fine. I didn’t ring the number - heard those folks are scammers just after your money.

I suspect they were attempting to swindle me out of cash, claiming I had a computer virus. They demanded £120 to fix it, threatening that it wouldn’t be resolved otherwise. Thankfully, I managed to cancel the bank transaction!
