They say they’re from o2, probably got hold of o2’s customer details, trying to sell you new contract deals. It’s an outsourced call centre. Best just to block and not reply. They do keep switching their phone numbers, so it’s a bit tricky to stop them completely.

This isn’t the genuine O2 at all. After loads of calls from this number saying they were O2, I rang the real O2 and it turns out it's a local call centre in Brum trying to flog dodgy tariffs from various providers. Definitely report them to the cops for fraud. Also, under UK regulations, if they ring you again, you can actually charge them up to £1,000 for using your phone to market stuff, but you have to tell them about the fee when they call.

01612776690 - Just want to say this isn’t a genuine call from O2. I phoned the official O2 Customer Service on 4445 (free if you’re with O2) and they confirmed this number is actually from a partner company, nothing else. After explaining how annoying and unsettling these calls have been, the O2 rep was nice enough to arrange for my number to be removed from their marketing database. Apparently, it could take up to 40 days to sort out. In my view, calls like these should be marked as spam and stopped straight away.

This definetly wasn’t a genuine call from O2. The bloke on the phone was really rude and had zero manners - he even shouted when I said I didn’t want to keep talking. At least he had a British accent this time. When I asked him any questions, he couldn’t give me any info about my account. He claimed I’d never registered my SIM card with them, which is just complete rubbish! Stay well clear of this scam. People like that should be embarrassed for pestering folks like this.

Yeah, this does seem to be O2, specifically from their SIM-only pay as you go upgrade team, so they wouldn’t have an account number to give. We’re on pay as you go SIM-only ourselves, and we told them we're fine with what we’ve got and asked to be taken off their calling list. Since then, we haven’t had another call. It can be a bit annoying, but I don’t think they’re scammers or anything like that.

Got two calls on my mobile back to back, both saying they were from 02. My usual trick with calls like this is to ask for my account number. If they’re legit, they should have it ready. Both times the person on the other end just hung up. I’ve now reached out to 02 Customer Services - it’s an automated setup but you can get through to a real person - so I reported what happened and gave them all the info. Hopefully they’ll do something about it. I even told 02 that these dodgy callers have rung over 36,600 times already!
