This caller claimed to be from a mobile network offering a fantastic deal to get you locked into a contract. The trick is, they call the actual provider pretending to be you, and if you pass their credit check, they order a phone sent to your address. Soon after you get the phone, they ring you within an hour saying there’s been a mix-up and they need to collect the phone to deliver a different one. Once you hand over the phone, they vanish and you’re left stuck with a contract for a phone you never really ordered yourself. Proper scam, watch out for this one!

Got a call from someone claiming to be Carphone Warehouse about new iPhone deals. The first thing they asked was, “Which iPhone do you own right now?” If it was really them, surely they’d already know that info from their system, so why ask? When I refused to answer, the bloke sounded surprised and pressed me on why. I just ended the call and switched my phone off for a good 15 minutes after.

I'm trying to cancel with Xin but they just won't stop bothering me. They lure you in with a bargain but then sneak in extra charges. When you ring to have them taken off, they let some time pass and then slap them back on again. Plus, they keep swapping your plan to something else that ends up being more expensive, and then you have to waste time sorting it all out again. Give it a go and see for yourself.
