Normally it’s a lady named Jo who rings me but today it was a nicely spoken bloke - can’t remember his name though. Got a call from this number and straight away suspected it was a scam since the number was unfamiliar. I answered but stayed silent, and after a minute or so, they just hung up. I only answered so I could block it afterwards, which I did, and then reported it as a scam.

If a number rings you and you don’t know who it is, just pick up, stay silent and don’t say anything. Usually, the caller will hang up quickly since it’s just some automated voice system. I’ve tried this loads of times and it works spot on. If it’s a real person, you’ll probably hear them talk to check if you’re there.

You can tell right away this is a call centre because there's that weird delay before anyone talks after you pick up.
