So, this morning I got a call warning me about being looked into for tax evasion, and they said if I didn’t hit 1, I'd get arrested soon. The number was very similar, just a bit off, so I figured I’d share it here in case others have seen this one too: 01517354108. When I tried calling it back, all I got was this strange buzzing noise before the line dropped.

On the 14th of October 2018, I got a voicemail from someone named James Anderson talking about tax fraud. Didn’t check it till much later and it made me quite anxious. I tried calling the number back but the call dropped straight away. Thankfully, I found this website which helped a lot. I guess the number’s probably blocked by now!

This morning I answered a call from this number. The caller, who spoke in a flat American accent, asserted he was from HMRC and claimed there was a tax evasion matter linked to my name. He urged me to return the call to prevent facing arrest and going to, as he put it, the ‘court house’. The whole thing sounded scripted and pre-recorded, just a typical scam. For heaven's sake, don't return the call! Also, let’s be clear: we don’t refer to it as the ‘court house’ here in the UK-that’s purely an American term. My advice? Stay clear, block this number, and whatever you do, do not engage with them!

Got a call from some bloke named James Anderson, said he was from “HMRC” and there was some warrant out for me over tax dodging and fraud. Don’t bother ringing them back! I phoned HMRC myself and they told me it was definitely a scam. I also reported it to Action Fraud on 03001232040, so anyone else who gets the same call should do that too. Proper shook me up, what a load of muppets!

That number claiming to be James Anderson? Just ignore it, it’s a scam for sure. HMRC normally only reach you through letters and hardly ever ring you. If you do get a call and think it might be genuine, hang up and ring HMRC’s official line to check and ask to speak to the same person. That’s the safest way to make sure you’re not being tricked.

I had an incoming call from this number earlier today. A chap who identified himself as James Anderson from HMRC was on the line, asserting that I must return his call immediately due to a supposed tax avoidance or fraud allegation against me. He insisted it was crucial that I didn't ignore the call, or else it would be escalated to the local court, potentially leading to a warrant in my name. The line was terribly poor, and his accent sounded rather foreign, making it challenging to catch what he was saying. Feeling sceptical, I decided to look up the number online and stumbled upon this website. In my humble opinion, I wouldn't recommend calling back.

I didn’t bother ringing back, looks like a proper scam to me. Honestly don’t understand why these lot aren’t prosecuted. It’s really unfair, they’re just making a quick buck off folks who are stressed about HMRC stuff. Totally dodgy.

I received a robo call from someone claiming to be James Anderson, saying I was facing some legal trouble and told me to ring him back. I did call, but he wasn't aware of much about me and soon got really rude before ending the call. Best to just block and ignore these calls.
