Just had a dodgy call about a car insurance accident claim. The bloke had a proper Scouse twang and kept mentioning his first name, which was a dead giveaway. I didn’t hesitate and hung up straight away.

Been getting calls nonstop for a few days. Eventually someone answered, a lady saying she was from AAC asking if I’d had an accident in the last couple of years. I said no, then she hung up and I just blocked the number.

Got three calls over the past couple of days, each time the last few numbers were different. Picked up the first one since I’ve got family and workmates in Liverpool. A young bloke was asking for Elizabeth. I asked which Elizabeth, and he dropped my mum’s surname - which really threw me off since she passed away back in ’92 and never even lived here, we only moved in ’95! Told him “Beth” wasn’t around and offered to take a message, he said he’d ring back. Said it was nothing serious, just something about her accident last year! What a load of idiots.

Got a call from a woman who sounded really condescending, trying to check in after an accident I apparently had but wasn’t my fault. She kept pressing for more info but said she wasn’t allowed to share anything herself because of some policy. When I told her there hadn’t been any accident, she snapped back that she wasn’t involved and I could take my frustration out on her (even though I wasn’t even annoyed or raising my voice). Definitely felt like a scam, so I’m blocking this number.

This bloke rang askin for Lisa, so I went “Lisa who then?” He said me surname. Said he was from the aac? Dunno, prob I misheard cos his Scouse accent wass proper thick. Asked what that even was, he just said tht same acronym again and called me “love”, then said it was somethin about vehicle damage. I ain’t had no car crash. Told him to jog on and hung up. Somebody else mentioned in the comments that maybe they got the number off some site selling phone lists. Last place I gave my number to was Argos, if that helps any.

If anyone’s got a bit of time to waste on weird calls like this, come join me! They rang up saying I’d been in an accident months back and offered to help me get some compo. So I told them a story (using a fake name, obviously) about how I was heading home, stuck in crazy traffic, when outta nowhere some reckless driver smashed into the left side of my car. Then when they asked what I was driving, I said it was one of those fancy Martian spaceships. Got a laugh out of the bloke before he cut me off!

Blimey! I don’t usually pick up calls from unfamiliar numbers but got caught off guard this time! They were asking about a scratch on my car - I haven’t had a crash in decades! When I said to take me off their list, they said I couldn’t and insisted I answer their questions. I told them I’m on the TPS register, never asked for this call, wasn’t interested at all. The caller then claimed I DID ask for the call and said they’d keep ringing me until I responded! Proper cheek! Ended the call and blocked the number straight away.

Got a call on 21/11/19 from a Scouser asking for Ann, who happens to be my missus. I asked who was calling, and he said 'aic'. Told him Ann would ask me who aic is, so I asked him straight up. He said it was about an accident Ann reported in the last 8 months. I told him I reckoned he was talking nonsense. He sounded offended and asked what I meant. I repeated I thought he was full of it! Then he said because I was being rude, he'd email Ann instead. Then he just hung up. Utter waste of time!
