Got a call from someone pushing me to renew an insurance policy that I don’t even have. She claimed my card had expired and insisted I update it to pay £90 for an extra two years of coverage. I got a phone call from someone called Candice Williams claiming to be from Spector Home Protection. She told me my 87-year-old mum supposedly had insurance for white goods that was up for renewal. My mum insists she never took out any policy like that. The whole chat sounded just like loads of other posts I’ve seen here - offering to drop the price from £135 down to £95 for two years of cover. Got a call from this number about half past twelve today but it didn’t connect cos we have the Sky Talk Shield on. They usually try with some very typical British names like Jim or Paul to seem legit! Proper cheers to this site and everyone’s comments - I’m going to block it straight away using Sky Shield. I got a call about some "white goods insurance" I supposedly have, trying to get me to fork out money. They said my payments would drop from £120.00 down to £96.00 a year and claimed I’d be saving cash. But how exactly is paying £96.00 annually a saving when I’m currently paying nothing? That’s a bit suspicious if you ask me. I never signed up for any policy with them, so pretending I did feels like total dishonesty. Watch out for this!

I just got a ring from 01514386531 claiming there’s some policy my husband supposedly signed up for in 2017 to cover all our white goods, cost £120. Thing is, my husband never sorts this kind of thing out. When I asked why we never got any paperwork, they said sometimes Royal Mail loses the documents. They then said if we renew now, it’s only £90 for two years and the paperwork will be sent by courier. Got a call from 0151438 6532 around 17:20 on 29/11/2019. They claimed I’d signed up for white goods insurance and said my card started with a 4… I asked how I’d paid and they told me it was a one-time payment back in 2017. I said I don’t recall that and I wouldn’t have paid in full anyway. Then they offered to lower it to £90 since I’d apparently been with them since 2017. I told them I’m skint and just hung up.

On 14th November 2019, I got a call from a woman with an Asian accent claiming to be from 'Spectre Home Protection'. She told me we'd supposedly been paying them £129 a year since September 2015 and asked for my new Visa card details to renew the contract. I told her I was pretty sure we never signed up for anything like that, but she kept pushing, offering a price of £90 for this year plus an extra year free until 2021. Oddly, she already knew my name, address, and the first digits of my old Visa card number. Thankfully, I declined, and soon after I stumbled on this website!

They called, asking to speak with someone by first name, mentioning insurance. I quickly jumped in and said, "You’ve got the wrong number, that person doesn’t live here anymore." The caller seemed pretty taken aback and asked when she moved away. After I told him, he just ended the call straight away.

It’s absolutely outrageous! My elderly mother, who is 79 and disabled, was tricked into providing her card information for a fake washing machine insurance renewal. They even had the audacity to ask her to confirm she had enough funds in her account. Thankfully, her carer overheard the last bit of the conversation, and we swiftly took action to secure her bank account. It seems effective since they tried to ring her again at 8:09 this morning, attempting to get her card details once more. This has left her utterly shaken and distressed; it’s shocking how low these scammers will stoop to rob vulnerable individuals. What kind of people can do this and live with themselves?

Got a call from Spectre Home Protection saying my insurance was nearly up and they were offering a free extension for being a loyal customer. But then they said my card on file was out of date and needed the new info. Didn’t feel right sharing that over the phone so I said no way. They kept pushing so I just told them to forget it and ended the call. Blocked the number straight away.

I got a couple of calls in quick succession from 01514386532, which is a Liverpool number. I couldn’t answer them at the time, but thought I’d look the number up afterwards. Best thing I did, as I ended up blocking it straight away.

Got a call from Spectre Home Protection saying I’d been insured with them since 2013, which isn’t true at all. They also insisted they cover electrical stuff, but they don’t. What really freaked me out was they knew the first four digits of my credit card. Definitely felt like a dodgy scam.

They call at all hours, but the only time I actually got to hear anything was an automated voice saying thanks for calling, and to get your number taken off their list you need to email hotmail. But it never tells you the full email address, so can’t get in touch. Proper frustrating!

I got a call from someone called “Jaydene” or something like that, working for “Spectre Home Protection,” trying to sell me insurance for my electrical stuff - which I’ve never even signed up for. She went on about how my policy supposedly started in 2015 and all the benefits it includes. I kept telling her I’m on the TPS and that I don’t want it, but she just wouldn’t back off. Really pushed hard and it felt like a total scam to me!

Just like a lot of people here, I got a call from a lady with an Asian accent claiming my home appliance protection plan (Spectre Home Protection, which I couldn’t find anything about online) was about to run out. She said she needed to verify my details before sending the renewal info. I calmly told her this sounded dodgy and that either she or her company was trying to con me.

Today at lunchtime, I got a call from someone claiming to be from Spector Home Protection. The person was really pushy, insisting I had a contract with them which I definitely don’t. They kept saying I pay a yearly fee and wanted to talk about new payments. Even though I told them I have no such policy, they just wouldn't listen. In the end, I had to hang up. Sounds like a total scam to me, be careful if you get calls like this.

Got a call from an Asian lady around 11:28. Her accent was really thick and she mentioned something about household appliances. It’s the first time in ages a number like this has actually got through. Looks like the usual call blockers aren’t catching this one.

Yesterday evening, just shy of 7pm, my 91-year-old mother received a rather intrusive call. The caller informed her that they intended to drop by on Monday to sort out some paperwork connected to her care package. Honestly, what a nerve! This is a vulnerable lady battling Alzheimer’s and dementia, and now she’s left anxious and bewildered, which will surely take days for her to settle back down. How am I supposed to ascertain whether or not they even have her proper address?

Has anyone else been getting calls that look like they’re coming from Liverpool lately? There’s a trick some companies use now where they reroute their calls over the internet and make it seem like they’re ringing from your own area code. They do this because most people are more likely to answer if they see a familiar local number - maybe hoping it’s a family member or something important. It’s a clever way to get you to pick up even if the caller’s really from somewhere else.
