Got a call from someone saying they were with EE, trying to sell me a good deal on broadband, mobile and landline. I wasn’t ready to decide straight away so told them to ring me later. Later I looked up the number they gave me and realised it was a scam. Glad I didn’t fall for it!

I got a call from this number and they said they were from BT. I had looked up BT just the day before, so seemed a bit fishy to me. Definitely feels like a scam.

I got a call from this number earlier today saying they were from EE broadband. Funny thing is, I actually rang EE yesterday to ask about a contract I’ve got that’s about to run out. Anyone know if this number is genuine?

They claimed to be from EE, but it didn’t sound quite right to me.

Got a call on my home phone from EE Broadband supposedly in Hull. I asked if I could ring back later, coz I wasn't gonna give my info just like that. The number they gave me was 01482489675, but looking it up, it seems to be a scam. So yeah, better to be careful with these calls!

I had never asked for a call from EE but somehow got contacted anyway, and honestly, I’m baffled how they found my landline from just a web search. A bloke called John or Sean offered me a great deal and emailed me what looked like a proper quote. I checked 1471 and it showed the number 01482456273, which seems to be a real EE contact. But then he told me to ring back a different number 01482489675, which is the one I’m flagging here. I started feeling iffy when he said he could sort it all out over the phone straight away and wanted my bank details - I never gave those to him though. When I asked how he got my number, he said it was sent to him because he’s working from home during lockdown. I asked how I could really trust him and he said he gets asked that lot and I should just trust the quote he’d emailed me. Still, I’m left puzzled. Not a single bit of bank info was shared, thankfully.

Got a call tonight from a guy named “Sean” who was checking up on some internet stuff I asked about earlier for EE broadband. He gave me a number to call back to sort the sign-up. Felt a bit dodgy. I checked the number by dialling 1471 and it came up as 01482456273. Strange how he knew I was asking about EE in the first place?

I only worked out that this bloke wasn't who he claimed to be after hanging up. I was fuming with my broadband provider anyway, paying loads for rubbish service. This guy somehow knew I’d rung my provider late on a Saturday night and asked if my internet had got any better. Then he wanted to check my address, and daft me, I actually told him, not realising it was a scam. I only got suspicious when he started trying to push me into signing up for an EE contract. Since I’ve been constantly checking my service all day to gather proof to complain to my provider, I might’ve gone for it and given him my bank details if I hadn’t caught on in time. I’m so relieved I didn’t. How on earth did he know I’d called my provider that late on a Saturday? That’s how I got pulled into his trap. Just watch out, I got lucky - you might not be so fortunate.
