Some report the caller presses for appointments without asking permission, leading to stressful or evasive interactions. Said they was from National Grid about fitting smart meters - I wouldn’t trust them as most smart meters don’t even work well with changing energy providers, and I’ve never seen any real benefits from having one.

On the 8th of April 2019 at precisely 15:10, I received a call from someone claiming to be from the Co-op, insisting they needed to come and fit a second-generation smart meter at my place. I firmly declined their offer!

This number has been calling me non stop. I answered today and the person on the other end didnt bother asking if I wanted a smart meter. They just said they were setting up a visit to install one, like I had no say. I told them I wasnt interested. They asked why, and I replied, "Do I really have to explain why I dont want one?" The conversation ended pretty quickly after that.

I've had this number ring me so many times. I finally answered today and the guy didn’t ask if I wanted a smart meter or anything. He just said he was setting up a time to install one, like I had no say in it. I told him I wasn’t interested. Then he asked if there was a reason, and I asked if I really needed to explain why I didn’t want it. The conversation finished pretty quickly after that.

This number has been ringing me for about five days straight, except over the weekend. I finally picked up yesterday and asked who it was, but they just put the phone down on me! If they really work for Coop, you'd think they'd at least say who they are or leave a voicemail. Anyway, I've gone ahead and blocked the number now.

I got contacted by someone claiming to be from Co-op Energy, they sent an email a few weeks back to let me know about this. The audio on the message they left was really bad. Still, it seems to be a genuine group. There’s loads of nonsense said about smart meters, mostly from people who don’t like them.

Definitely sounds like one of those predictive diallers. The second you pick up the phone, it just cuts off, probably coz there’s not enough staff to take the call or the system hasn’t matched you with an operator yet. I’m gonna reach out to the co-op since it looks like it’s something to do with smart meters from the info shared here. I don’t want one personally as I can’t really see the point. The fact it just hangs up is pretty frustrating. Would advise filing a complaint with Co Op.

Got calls from the national grid about a smart meter which apparently costs extra! Plus, my energy company hasn’t sent me any kind of confirmation or letters. They keep ringing me, usually twice a day, both in the morning and evening. I’ve left more than 8 voicemails just this week.

Some bloke rang me saying he was from Co-Op Energy about fitting a smart meter. When I asked for more details, he got dodgy and then just hung up.

They’ve been calling my home phone every single day for like a week now, and just started ringing my mobile as well. I’ve played their message loads of times but can barely catch what they’re saying, only that they’re open from 11am to 8pm daily. From what I found here, it seems to be a genuine call about smart meters. Normally utility firms would send a letter for stuff like this, and the sheer amount of calls plus the unclear message makes it feel a bit scammy, but I genuinely don’t think that’s the case!

I've been receiving calls supposedly from Co Operative Energy regarding the installation of a smart meter. Honestly, just refuse them outright! They keep ringing me, and it's driving me up the wall!

Such a hassle! They keep trying to fit a smart meter, reckon it’s from Co Op Energy or summat. Just flat out said NO. These smart meters end up costing us customers more in the long run. Got a call from 01482456261.

Those National Grid smart meters freak me out. No way I'm having one installed, I don't want some gadget watching everything I do at home.

From what I gathered on here, it’s just my energy provider ringing to set up a smart meter (which I’m not interested in). Honestly, I thought the folks saying the recorded message was impossible to understand were exaggerating. Surely a proper company wouldn’t leave such a confusing message, right? Well, turns out I was mistaken. The message was complete nonsense.

Just say NO to smart meters. Look into it yourself, they can be really risky and bring loads of issues.

Same here, just got a nonstop garbled message - ended up searching online ‘cause my hubby was getting really annoyed with it! I'm definitely going to raise it with Co-op Energy.

i been avoiding this number for a while cause the first message wasnt very clear. but decided to see what it was about and it turned out to be the national grid smart meter crew wanting to install a smart meter. got it sorted pretty quick and simple, just had to give some basic info for the appointment. don’t think it’s a scam, so 50 can chill out.

Got a call from a Hull number, turns out it’s the national grid about setting up smart meters. They’re calling all over the country to check when Coop and similar customers can get their smart meters installed. It’s a free service replacing old gas and electric meters. They sounded really organised and helpful, found a date that worked for me, and they said the whole job takes roughly an hour and a half.

got a call from them earlier. the message was barely understandable, something about installing something and asking me to ring back to sort it out. sorry, but this feels like one of those phishing scams to me.

They called and asked for my name, but when I asked who they were before giving mine, they just cut the call. Looks like a dodgy marketing scam to me, so that’s another number added to my growing list of blocks.

phone call came through, bloke asked "how you doing", then wanted to check my name. i asked who he was, he mumbled some name i couldnt catch - no mention of a company. he asked again who i was, i asked who he was. then he goes, "why you stuttering, dont you know your own name?" so i just put the phone down. looks like another McDonalds interview fail.
