I received a call from someone claiming to discuss a car accident I supposedly filed a claim for. When I informed him that I hadn't actually been in an accident, he persisted, questioning my certainty and even suggesting that it must have occurred within the past year. It was rather perplexing!

Don’t fall for it, it’s definitely a con. The caller ID shows the number coming from Girvan in South Ayrshire, which is a lovely little coastal town, but the call isn’t really from there. It’s some dodgy scammers overseas using spoofed numbers to make it look like they’re local. How they manage to pull that off I’m not too clear on, but I’ve heard it’s pretty common. Hopefully, someone who knows more about these scams will chime in and explain. Stay careful out there everyone!

This lady was really polite, asking me about some accident that I’m pretty sure didn’t happen. I joked, asking if having kids counts as an accident, and then she just ended the call 😂

Some woman called herself Chloe from Motor Assist, saying they’d picked up my info about a small car accident. I asked them where they found my details, and they claimed it was from the UK Insurance Limited database. I told them I hadn’t been in any accident, so it must be some kind of mix-up.

Got a call from 01465 300037, which is a Girvan code - I bet the person calling didn’t even know that! You could hear loads of noise in the background, so it’s clearly from some call centre. They started asking about a small car accident that supposedly happened to me - luckily I never had one. They went on about insurance covering the vehicle but not personal injury. When I asked what car it was in a bit of a jokey way, the caller got all flustered. I told them to stop messing about cos it was an obvious scam and then ended the call. Definitely BLOCKED!

Received a call claiming I’d had a crash in the past year. I asked how they knew that, and when exactly it happened - which I never did, by the way. She couldn’t give me any details. The company was called Auto Assist, she said her name was Sarah Adams. I told her I was tied up with work and would ring back later - not really of course. Then I asked what her position was and she just ended the call.
