Someone claimed to be from Auto Ecosse, offering compensation related to my car accident. I told them I’d already reported the calls as harassment since they kept ringing even though I’d blocked the number. They just ended the call after that.

This sounds like such a pointless job ringing folks up just hoping they been in a crash. I suppose it’s better than scamming for benefits, but what if someone actually has been hurt or lost their partner? That must be really upsetting. These calls should definitely be stopped - anyone involved in an accident probably already sorted their claim by now anyway.

Bit worrying this call. They seemed to know my name and mentioned an insurance firm I used to be with. Could be a lucky guess tho, but they wouldn’t say which company or how they got my number. If it’s a Glasgow number, they’ll get the message - “awa an boil yer heid”!

I received a call from a woman with a distinctly British accent who, rather presumptuously, was inquiring about a Mr Chris ---. Even after I pressed her for her identity and the company she represented twice, all she could muster was a vague statement about having knowledge of my supposed involvement in a recent car accident, should I indeed be that person. In response, let’s just say I had some choice words that I won’t divulge here - unsurprisingly, she hung up quite promptly. One of these days, when I find myself dealing with yet another scammer, I think I'll have a bit of fun and string them along, only to ask them to send me a formal letter detailing their claims. It's truly a shame that there are so many individuals out there who fall prey to such deceitful tactics!

I've received calls from 0141 769 0211 as well as 0224, 0232, 0233 numbers. Usually I dont pick up, no messages left either. But after checking here it looks like they are after car insurance claims. I did answer one call and they were definitely talking about some car accident that I had nothing to do with.

I just had a right muppet ring me up, attempting to pull a fast one! They were peddling some nonsense about a PPI claim. Seriously, folks, keep your wits about you; this is a dodgy scam that could catch you off guard.

Got a call from 0141 769 0211 on 13-03 (2020-10-07), claiming there was an accident I was involved in the past couple of years, which wasn’t my fault. Couldn’t give an exact date though. She kept saying it was legit and not just me being targeted randomly. Nope, not true - I haven’t had any accidents in the last 2 years. This is my 855th time checking this number. (Forget blocking it - these callers use fake numbers that usually switch daily).

Just got a call from this number. It’s part of a bunch of calls from very similar numbers. They probably noticed I blocked them, so they switch up the last few digits but keep the area code the same. When you pick up, they either hang up straight away or try to scam you. Best to not pick up at all.
