My mum got a call from this number saying they were from Scottish Power. They said they’d arranged a time to come and install a smart meter. They asked for her address and date of birth to check who she was, which she gave them. When she told me about it, I reckoned it was a bit dodgy. She then rang Scottish Power herself, and neither they nor the company that does the smart meter installs had any record of the call or a scheduled visit. Pretty much what you’d expect, no one turned up for the appointment.

Got a call at 7:30pm. Just let it ring. I’m hardly ever picking up unknown numbers, especially not that late. They’re a third party hired to book appointments for Scottish Power, which explains the aggressive approach and the call centre staff who seem more interested in meeting quotas than having proper conversations.

They phoned me 8 times in 4 days. A Scottish lady answered, claiming to be from Scottish Power. She wanted to arrange a smart meter fitting and asked for my name, mobile number, and first line of my address. I told her to send me an email on Scottish Power letterhead and I’d consider it. She said she couldn’t do that and abruptly said she was ending the call. She gave the name Susan. She claimed it was a government regulation that the installation was compulsory. I asked her to point this out in my contract, but she said she couldn’t see my contract. Quite a pushy caller.
