Then I asked her to give me my account number, but she said I needed to answer security questions first. I told her she might be a scammer and she hung up, sounding annoyed. I've received calls from this number a staggering nine times over the past few days. I did pick up once, and the caller identified themselves as being from Aviva Life Insurance - the very company with which I hold a policy. However, the whole exchange set off alarm bells; they had my personal details, yet claimed that due to Covid, my policy required reassessment, despite the fact that I had only just taken out the policy at the start of the year. I quickly wrapped up the conversation, saying I needed to leave for an outing, and they insisted they would ring me back the next day. I then spoke with my financial adviser, who immediately flagged it as a fraudulent call, explaining that Covid wouldn’t warrant any changes to existing life insurance agreements.
