Totally a con, don't fall for it lol.

So apparently someone’s watching me or something, haha.

Some automated lady rang me, claiming to be from HMRC and telling me my home was being watched. Just out of interest, I phoned back and got a guy with a strong accent who immediately started accusing me of tax fraud. I asked him for specifics about this supposed investigation, but he told me to contact the local police instead. When I pushed him for more info, he got annoyed, threatened to report me for harassment and intimidation, and then just cut me off! I stayed polite and kept my cool the whole time!

I received a recorded message stating that my home is being monitored and that I need to get in touch with them without delay.

Got a call from a woman’s automated voice saying my home was being watched and I had to ring them back straight away. It’s so wrong, these kinds of threats are scary, especially for people who might be more easily scared. Such bullying needs to be dealt with properly.

Today I got a call for the first time ever, so I decided to call back but no one picked up. I ended up contacting the police and told them about it. I'm not planning to call again, that's for sure.

That was a dodgy call pretending to be from HMRC. Never hand over your info or cash. Best to report it to the police straight away.

Most definitely a con, just end the call and don’t get tricked.

I had something similar happen, but luckily I’m aware of my rights. The guy from India didn't even bother checking anything for data protection before continuing the call.

Got a missed call earlier and there was this robo-voicemail about some HMC thing. So I rung back and ended up chatting with a guy called “David,” sounded Indian. Told him to get lost and he just hung up and blocked me. The number showed up as from Glasgow. Honestly, I’d like to track him down. Must be some right berk. If I find him, I’ll knock on his door and give him a proper smack that’ll have him crapping himself.

Got a call from someone claiming to be HMRC - total scam. I rang back using my PAYG phone with GiffGaff since I had minutes left and no worry about extra charges. The bloke, who sounded Asian, said he was from HMRC, but when I asked where their office was, he just snapped "get lost" and cut me off. If you use a pay-as-you-go and have some spare minutes you don’t mind wasting, why not call these scammers back? Tie them up in long chats, annoy them a bit, or even throw some abuse their way just for fun. It’s a nice way to turn the tables on these dodgy callers.

I wouldn’t bother ringing them back, it’s a scam for sure. They end up making cash every time you call them.

I had the exact same thing happen. Definitely not how HMRC says they operate.

This is just a scam, claiming my home is being watched and I'm a suspect. Ha! As if, kiss off!

Got a dodgy call where they actually called me by my nickname, which I doubt HMRC would ever do :) They wanted the details of my barrister, but luckily I know loads of them in my family, so I rattled off a few names. Then the line just cut out.

Got a message like that too, with all those threats. I reckon it’s either some spiteful person paying for a recorded message to hassle people, or just one of those scam calls trying to scare you into handing over cash.

Got a robo call saying I was being investigated and that my place was being watched. I asked who they were and to prove it, then the call just cut off. Really dodgy if you ask me.

I got a robo call with a message saying there’s some sort of legal case for me, calling me the main suspect and saying my home’s being watched. It ended by telling me to ring them back urgent. Felt really shady to me.

some bloke rang me saying he was from the hmrc legal team warning me about court proceedings and that my house was being watched. i tried calling the number back, got a guy with an indian accent who called himself david from hmrc and asked for my name. i questioned how he could prove he was really from hmrc and then the call just dropped. if it was a legit hmrc legal issue, they’d have sent a letter, surely.

My other half called the number back, then when she asked them to prove who they were, some bloke told her to "buzz off" in a rude way. I rang them too but used a fake name. When "Shaun Parker" couldn’t spot his name on their list, he just hung up straight away.

Been ringing them over 20 times today, but it seems like they've blocked my number or something. Just trying to find out what else they need from me. Not much going on work-wise, so guess I’ve got time.

Got a call like this earlier too, said it was HMRC. I got a bit worried since I’m trying to start a business, so I decided to ring them back. The tone was really pushy and rude! That’s when I knew for sure it was a scam and didn’t hesitate to tell them off!

got a voicemail a moment ago, some recorded message saying i've got a lawsuit filed against me, and apparently i'm the main suspect, with claims my house is being watched! it was one of those robot voices telling me to call them immediately - like i’m falling for that nonsense!

Like loads of others have said, got a message saying my home was being watched and if I didn’t call back, I might get into trouble with the law. Of course, I didn’t bother returning the call. I’m thinking about maybe pursuing some legal steps, but to be honest, it probably isn’t worth the hassle.

Got a call with some robot voice claiming it was HMRC and they were about to sue me. I rang back to check if it was legit and asked for their address and proof of who they were. When I said I was recording for proof of a scam, they just cut off and now it looks like I’ve been blocked. Ha, guess the scammers didn’t fancy chatting once I called their bluff!
