I just got a message saying I was owed a refund from the IRS, but when I clicked the link, it took me to a dodgy site that wasn’t a .gov address. They were asking for personal details like my name, social security number, and postcode. Seriously, folks, be wary of any site that pretends to be a government agency but doesn’t have that .gov domain! It’s a total scam!

On the 8th of September, 2019, I received a rather bothersome text message just after the stroke of midnight. After promptly deleting that one, another message came through roughly an hour later. I wisely chose to steer clear of the link included in the message. The link it featured was http://40.70.74.11v, and it had “Thinkright” written beneath it, which seemed rather peculiar. The sender identified themselves as Johndbo. Eventually, I decided enough was enough and muted my phone, as their incessant alerts were disrupting my slumber. Honestly, I’m completely stumped as to who this might be or their motive for texting me-especially at such an ungodly hour! For context, I’m still using a trusty old AT&T flip phone, and this was the first instance of unsolicited text spam I’ve ever encountered.
