Someone rang me a few days ago but I didn't pick up. Whenever I get calls from unknown numbers, I usually try to find out who it is. I ended up blocking this one using my phone’s spam filter. Ever since I switched back to a contract with Vodafone last month, I've been getting around four or five nuisance calls each week. I just don't bother answering them. If it was something important, they’d leave a message on my voicemail anyway.

Got a call from a guy claiming to be with Carphone Warehouse, sounded Indian. He was pushing some deals and even sent me messages on WhatsApp. In the end, I decided not to take up any of the offers.

They might say Dunoon, but from the noisy crowd of Indian chatter and giggles I picked up in the background, I just hung up. Pretty sure it’s NOT Dunoon at all, but another bloody scam call centre somewhere in Calcutta, like the BBC exposed in that recent show, Scam Interceptors! These people are the worst kind - just let the phone ring. Or if you do pick up, stick the phone down on the table and have a cuppa, forcing them to stay on the line with you. At least it buys some harmless soul a bit of peace. Xxx

Got a call from some bloke claiming he had a special offer for my o2 contract. Then I got a couple of texts - one was some kind of fraud alert, the other had a code. Even though the text said not to share it, I told him the code anyway. Thing is, I don't even have an o2 account, so this whole thing just left me baffled. What’s the point of this scam?

When I picked up and said hello, nobody answered, though I could hear a bunch of people chatting in the background. I waited about a minute hoping someone would say something, but after silence, they just ended the call. Sounds like one of those sketchy call centres to me. Watch out!
