I received a call the other day, but unfortunately, I wasn’t able to pick up. Whenever a number pops up that I don’t recognise, I tend to do a bit of digging to find out who it is. In this case, I’ve gone ahead and added it to my phone’s spam filter. Since re-activating my phone contract with Vodafone last month, I’ve been inundated with at least four or five unsolicited calls each week from various unknown numbers. I hardly ever answer them, as I believe if the call is genuinely important, they’ll surely leave a voicemail.

I might as well believe it’s Dunoon, but the cacophony of Indian voices and the sounds of laughter in the background made me think twice, so I ended the call. More likely it’s just another dodgy call centre from Kolkata, as highlighted in the BBC's recent documentary, Scam Interceptors! Honestly, these individuals are the lowest of the low. BEST to let it ring, or if you’re feeling mischievous, answer and place the phone down on the table while you brew yourself a nice cuppa. This way, you’ll keep them tied up on the line, giving some poor unsuspecting soul a bit of respite for a change. Cheers! xxx

I received a call from a number that reportedly originates in Dunoon, Scotland. Being a Glaswegian myself, I found the person on the other end had a strong Indian accent. I struggled to comprehend what they were on about, but it seemed to involve some sort of mobile phone sales pitch. Very odd, indeed!

I picked up and greeted the caller, but bizarrely, there was nothing but silence on the other end, only a cacophony of chatter in the background.
