4 yearsSome bloke rang claiming to be from "Public Health England". I quickly looked up the number online and saw loads of similar complaints. I kept him on the line for a bit. He asked about my covid jabs and flu shots, then jumped straight into asking questions about my health insurance. I called him out as a con artist and cheekily asked if his mum was proud of what he was doing. Didn’t seem to like that one bit and started arguing, so I told him to “buzz off” before hanging up and blocking the number. Proper scammer trying it on.Public Health England4 yearsFor over two years now, I've been getting calls and texts from various numbers, all looking for this Brian Tweddle person. I have no clue who that is, but the texts mostly mention loan stuff or gambling websites. Whenever I answer, it's usually a bloke with an Indian accent, and there's loads of background noise like other people chatting or calls happening. Seems like they're using some kind of autodialler because there's always a long pause before anyone picks up. And if you ask questions or try to challenge them, they just hang up straight away. Definitely a dodgy scam if you ask me.Brian Tweddle4 yearsGot a call from someone pretending to be Public Health England, sounded really fishy. I’m pretty sure it was a scam trying to get my info. Pretty strange.4 yearsGot two calls from this number, only picked up the second time. At first, there was silence and then some crackling noise before a bloke with an accent I couldn’t place started talking. He said my name - which honestly I never said out loud - and claimed to be from Public Health England (I’m actually based in Wales, so that was a bit odd). He then started asking about my vaccine status, which felt really off so I just ended the call there. They started asking which flu jab I’d had and if I’d had any issues with it. After that, out of nowhere, they wanted to know about my life insurance and how much I pay each month. They asked me to verify my postcode, so I just gave them a made-up one. Missed the first two but picked up the last one ‘cause it looked like it was from my local code. A guy with a thick Pakistani accent answered, said he was calling from the “UK Public Health Department” and had “some questions” for me. I could hear other people in the background talking with similar accents, and even though I hate to sound biased, it made me suspicious that this wasn’t legit at all. When I asked the purpose of the call, he just kept saying it was about “important questions.” I told him I didn’t trust the call and wanted my number taken off whatever list they had me on. No clue if they actually will, but it definitely felt like one of those dodgy scam calls.
