A couple of comments down from here will shed some light on why merely blocking numbers isn’t a foolproof solution and offer advice on how to effectively curb these nuisance calls for good.

I had a rather dodgy call earlier from a chap claiming to represent EE, trying to sell me some unbelievable phone deals. The connection was terrible, and he was quite pushy, practically demanding my attention. In the end, I decided to hang up. Definitely seemed like a scam to me!

Without a doubt, it came across as a call centre. The chap claimed to represent EE, but given that I don't have any dealings with them, I made it clear that I don't entertain unsolicited calls and ended the conversation. Considering what others have mentioned about links to Carphone Warehouse, I reckon this is probably a scam.

I received a call from someone attempting to peddle a discounted iPhone. When I made it clear that I wasn't interested, he just kept on going, which was rather off-putting. So, I eventually decided to hang up! I can assure you, he was certainly not a Scotsman!

I've no clue who it was—something about Fort Augusta flashed up on my screen, but the call cut off as soon as I picked up. It was dialled to my mobile, and I’m getting a strong whiff of a scam here! When calls drop or just go silent, it feels pretty much like harassment to me.

Exercise caution when you receive calls of this nature, particularly those requesting that you participate in a survey or respond to several questions. Often, these are the tactics employed by scammers aimed at extracting your private information under the guise of a benign inquiry. Stay vigilant!

I received a call from a bloke with a thick Indian accent who seemed to be mumbling a bit. I politely mentioned that I wasn't keen on whatever he was selling. He then got rather irate and told me to “return to my own country.” Funny thing is, I was already in my own country! 😂 I've since blocked the number. Do yourself a favour and steer clear of this one!

I received a call from a man with an Indian accent claiming he was ringing about an offer from Carphone Warehouse. The thing is, I've never had any dealings with them at all! I couldn't help but chuckle, then promptly hung up and blocked the number. It’s clearly yet another dodgy scam call.
