Total scam, steer clear. Never share any details with them, not even your name.

Received a dodgy phone call today! Definitely a scam.

I keep getting calls from a friendly sounding woman who says something about "talking about your home appliance insurance." I don’t have any insurance like that for my household stuff, and I’m not interested in buying any. They’ve rung a bunch of times over the last few days, sometimes calling me twice in one day at different hours. I just ignore the calls and delete them straight away. It’s really frustrating.

Another pointless call with no message left on the ansaphone. Fingers crossed it ends up costing them something.

I got a call about my "insurance for electrical stuff" that was supposedly about to expire - total scam as far as I'm concerned. When I told her I didn’t have any insurance like that, she claimed their details were incorrect. I’m pretty sure they’ll just keep ringing anyways.

This number gave me a ring the other day. Straight away, I could tell it was dodgy. They wanted to speak to someone I didn’t know, so I just said it was me. Then they went on about some kind of insurance renewal for my washing machine and oven, trying to sell me cover for three years but only charging for two. I asked how much it would be and they said £209. I didn’t bother with it and just hung up. They tried calling again, but I just ignored it and let it ring out.

Funny thing, I ended up getting through to a different lady who was under the impression it was me phoning her. I reckon the scammer must've messed up and linked us both together by mistake - those annoying home appliance insurance calls keep coming to me on a regular basis.

I got a call from a company about my fridge, freezer and oven needing some kind of renewal. They asked me to agree to it and pay up. When I asked more questions to make sure it was legit, they just got all rude and ended the call on me. Proper dodgy behaviour.

I got a call from this number claiming to be from some Domestic Appliances insurance company. They said my cover for all my household appliances was ending soon. I told them I wasn’t aware I had insurance on all those items and had no plans to renew anything. Honestly, I told them straight up I thought it sounded like a scam!

I got a voicemail from this number asking me to ring them back. When I dialled it, there was an automated message saying it was Personal Recruitment Outsourcing, and they even had an option to stop getting their calls. I just ended the call after that.

Just like the others have mentioned, this caller said they were from some kind of home appliance insurance. I decided to play along just to find out what they wanted. When I mentioned that she’d got the wrong address - maybe one belonging to a place nearby - she ended the call quite nicely. The accent was really thick and hard to make out over the phone, sounded like it could have been South African. Seems like a scam to me because she never asked for any details like my name or a policy number.

Somebody rang me saying they were from a company that insures household appliances, asking if I fancied renewing (we’ve never had one). They had my name and where I live, but when I asked them for a contact number to ring back, they said my missus had it and then just cut off. Later, I tried calling the number they called from, but it turned out to be a recruitment firm that answered. Strange!

I got a call from someone pretending to be from Domestic & General (D&G), saying I was due a discount since I hadn't claimed anything in a year. When I asked what appliances they meant, the person just rattled off a list of random household items, including some I don't even own. I ended the chat and hung up. Felt a bit dodgy, especially as I just signed up for D&G cover on a new TV not long ago. Pretty suspicious if you ask me.

Someone rang saying they were from a home insurance firm wanting to check if I wished to renew - problem is, we don’t have any such policy. They knew my name and where I live, but when I asked for a number to ring back, the person said my wife had it and then cut off. Funny enough, when I dialed the number that showed on my phone, it was actually a job agency that picked up.

I received a call from someone inquiring whether I wished to extend my insurance for domestic appliances, despite the fact that I don’t even have a policy. When I expressed my confusion and requested a number to return the call, he abruptly stated that my wife was already covered and then disconnected the line. Totally a scam!

I left a voicemail after just a couple of moments on hold. There was absolutely no sign that it was a legitimate business. Decided to ring them back using Skype to dodge any pesky scam fees, and was met with an automated response saying it was for "personal recruitment" or something along those lines. It promised that hitting '1' would stop any further calls, so I did just that, but it appears they have no idea who made the call! I genuinely think this outfit isn't above board, and I'd advise others to tread carefully when dealing with them.

I received a call from a woman with a distinctly American accent, who introduced herself as representing 'Domestic Insurance.' She kept pushing the idea that we had some sort of insurance policy on our cooker and other appliances (which we certainly do not) that was up for renewal. No matter how many times I declined, she was relentless. Curious about her legitimacy, I asked for the company's address, but to my surprise, she abruptly hung up. I can't help but think she was trying to fish for my banking information to raid my account.

I received a call from a lady named Sabrina claiming to represent Domestic and General. At first, I thought it might be regarding an appliance I just picked up from Currys. This marks the second time I've been contacted by these people. To be honest, I was rather preoccupied at the time, so I didn’t engage much. Had I known it was a fraudulent call, my response would have been significantly firmer. Perhaps it was merely a coincidence, but I can't help but feel a bit uneasy, especially given my recent purchase.

I received a call from a chap claiming to be with Domestic and General, supposedly reaching out about my home appliances cover. When I inquired about which appliances he meant, he mentioned the 'oven, washing machine, and freezer'. However, our oven is protected by a comprehensive warranty from the retailer, so I sensed some nonsense was afoot. I quizzed him on the brands of each appliance, and he couldn’t get a single one right, which confirmed my suspicions that it was a scam. He expressed gratitude for my time and mentioned that they would be 'updating their records'. Yet, given that he only knew about the models we don't possess, it’s clear he hasn’t a clue about what we do have. I strongly advise steering clear of this number; it might lead to unforeseen costs.

Like the other folk have mentioned, I recently had an encounter that’s left me rather bemused. They were peddling insurance for things that don’t even exist in my possession! When they requested my bank details, I cheekily provided them with false information, and to my surprise, they accepted it without a second thought. After they hung up, I couldn’t resist the urge to dial them back and set them straight. At 77, I may be a bit seasoned, but I’m certainly not gullible! Their little con game fell flat this time.

Received a request for my banking information to settle an upfront insurance fee for my appliances, claiming to be from Domestic & General. I find this rather suspicious, particularly since I already have a direct debit arrangement set up with them. Clearly, it's a scam!

I received a call from this number claiming that my insurance was due for my washing machine and cooker. The thing is, my kitchen and all the appliances are brand new, apart from my Miele washing machine, which is pushing 10 years now. I decided to hang up and cut off their number-I’ve had enough of these dodgy calls! To top it off, the caller didn’t sound British at all; I just couldn’t shake off the feeling that they were up to no good!

Received a dodgy call from someone claiming to be in Edinburgh. Out of curiosity, I decided to search the number online to uncover who was behind it. Got a call about insuring my kitchen appliances. They claimed my fridge, washing machine and cooker were all covered and due for renewal. When I mentioned my cooker is about 16 years old, so definitely no insurance on that, they just hung up on me! I’m closing in on 70, so feels like they’re aiming for older people. The caller sounded quite pushy and not very polite either.

Got a call about some home appliance insurance, asked if ive bought any new stuff lately. Said they’d ring me back tomorrow. Kind of annoying, havent bought anything though.

I received a call from someone who alleged they were providing a three-year insurance policy covering up to five home appliances for a staggering £495. It all felt quite fishy, especially since it didn't seem to matter what the appliances were worth or which brands they were. They only insisted that the items had to be under 15 years old, which honestly raised my scepticism. The caller was quite persistent, trying to get my bank details for a direct debit, assuring me that the payment wouldn’t be processed until I had time to review the documents. Naturally, I chose not to share any of that information!

The caller kept pushing for my banking information, which immediately raised my suspicions. If they were legitimate, they wouldn’t need to ask! I ended the call, but they rang me back, so I hung up once more. Definitely a scam!
