Beware of O2 cons! These creeps call up pretending to be from O2 and try to get you to confirm a security code. What you might not know is they've already got your mobile number and email from somewhere, probably from O2's site. Once you give them this code, they can change your password and get into your account. Their plan? To order a pricey second gadget, usually some new Samsung or Apple device, and then they try to nab the delivery before you get it. Absolute lowlifes!

At first, I was sure it was some kind of scam and almost didn't answer, but I figured I'd share this to warn others what’s going on. The person on the other end claimed to be from Vodafone. Right after, I got a message from Vodafone with a code and a warning: “Keep this code to yourself. If anyone asks for it, they’re trying to scam you. These fraudsters could hijack your phone number and use it to get into your bank. This code will only work for 20 minutes. Your code is ******”

My phone showed a fraud alert when it rang. It was a woman who sounded like she might be from India or somewhere close, her accent was quite hard to catch. Somebody rang me claiming to be from Vodafone and promised a 40% discount. When I asked for a callback number, they refused and just ended the call. To check, I got in touch with Vodafone myself, and they confirmed it wasn’t them. They even recorded the number I was called from so they could watch my account for any dodgy activity. Proper shady behaviour!

Had a call from some bloke claiming to be with EE. I asked if he was calling from the UK, but he just kept saying he was from EE. I told him I didn’t know what he was talking about and he hung up. Then he rang back a couple more times, once even from a different Edinburgh number ending in ...7131. I’ve blocked both now. Never had someone call me so many times before - they must be pretty keen or desperate.
