I recently took part in a freebie survey that came through an email, and O2 was listed as one of the free SIM deals you could possibly win. Even though I never gave my number for that, I still got a call from the number mentioned above (which I’ve blocked now). I also got calls from two other mobile numbers that I reckon are from the same freebie site. I’ve just ignored and blocked them all. If it’s really important, they can just text or email me instead.

I’m pretty sure they’re just cold calling, trying to grab personal info or get you into some deal that definitely isn't free. I told them to take me off their list, if they keep calling it just shows they’re not a trustworthy or legit company.

I phoned O2 today to check on these guys and after a long chat with different reps, they managed to find them and said they really do call for O2. Looks like some of the info they use isn't quite right, which causes problems. Definitely not a scam, just annoying they don’t clean up their data better. Basically, they’re trying to get you to sign up for a new year-long Sim or phone contract.

Someone called saying they were from O2 and claimed I’d won some prize draw, asking what network I’m with. Told her I hadn’t joined anything, she reckoned it must’ve been a pop-up I clicked on, which I denied. Then she said she could see I’m already an O2 customer and even said my name, but I never gave her that info. After that, she just hung up saying she’d leave me alone.

Told them to wipe all my info from their records and I’ve blocked the number now.
