I’m beginning to suspect that it's a bit dodgy. They called me about extending the warranty on my washing machine and wanted £76 for it! I did a bit of digging into the phone number and came across several remarks flagging it as a scam. I reside in Cannock, Staffordshire, yet the caller's number seemed to be from Brighton. Doesn’t add up, does it?

Got a call from someone trying to sort me out with compensation for some 'accident' they said I'd been in. Funny thing was, they couldn't actually say what accident they were on about even though they were the ones ringing me and not the other way round. They asked loads of questions about it, but I wasn’t having any of it - I gave them a proper telling off instead.

Got a call from this number earlier, they wanted to speak to me. I replied with “Who’s this?” and when they asked if it was really me, I asked again “Whose number is this?” Right after, they ended the call. I looked up the number on here and saw it wasn’t anything good, so I went ahead and blocked it.

Got a call about some supposed renewal for home appliance insurance I never even signed up for. I fired off loads of questions, and they gave very convincing answers like a company name and a registration number from Companies House - but it was all a complete load of rubbish. Definitely a phishing scam trying to trick me.

About 5 hours back I got a call, just got round to looking up the number now. It was one of those typical scams trying to sell bogus domestic appliance insurance. They said they were from D&G, which I actually have a policy with, but the brand they mentioned was completely wrong, so I knew straight away something was off. Ended the call pretty quick. The caller claimed the firm was based in Brighton, but the bloke’s accent definitely wasn’t English.

Got a call from 01273655253 about some appliance warranty that was supposedly ending, but I don’t even have one! I’m on the telephone preference service too, so I told them it was an unwanted call. They didn’t seem to care and kept going, but I wasn’t having it, so I just hung up. After that, I made sure to report the number through BT1572.

Someone rang me up yesterday saying my washing machine warranty was nearly up. They used my last name and obviously had my phone number, though it’s unlisted. I asked what brand the machine was and he said Hotpoint, which isn’t right. Then I asked how old it was and he couldn’t answer. Definitely a scam.
