They were pushing this deal, like 3 years for the price of 2, and even wanted to bundle in the fridge and cooker since we hadn’t claimed anything - which we obviously hadn’t, as we don’t even have that insurance! Total insurance scam, watch out.

Got a call from someone saying they were from Domestic Services about renewing our washing machine cover. The thing is, we've already got a policy with D&G and it’s current. They tried pitching a deal for 3 years of cover but only charging for 2, all in one payment. We told D&G about it and they said it wasn’t their doing and they’d pass the info on to their security team. Seems fishy, probably a scam.

On 25th Jan 2021 around 11.30am I got a call from a woman saying she was calling from the insurance team. She wanted to sell me some breakdown cover for my washing machine, saying it was a special discounted deal. When I asked where she’d got my details from, she claimed there was a file from the manufacturer with my landline and address on it. I told her that this sounded like a breach of data protection laws and the Telephone Preference Service, so she just ended the call. Seems like a scam to me - I’m sure if you agreed to the ‘offer’, they’d try to get your bank info next.

This was supposed to be from Policy Expert, which is a bit different from some of the other folks mentioning this. They told me the insurance on my fridge, washing machine, and dishwasher needed renewing. Thing is, I’ve never actually taken out any insurance on those appliances. At about 10:45 this morning, I got a call from a very polite bloke who tried to sell me an insurance renewal for my home appliances, saying it was £284 and that I’d paid the same last year - though I haven’t got any proof of that. Claimed he only knew the first four digits, so when I told him it was a Barclays card, he gave me a couple of number combinations. She claimed my washing machine warranty needed renewing and that I qualified for a 10% discount since I hadn't needed an engineer’s visit this year. If you start quizzing them about the brands and the supposed retailers where you bought these items, they completely lose their cool and hang up. Just a heads-up - it's an absolute con!
