Just yesterday, I received two calls from three different individuals purporting to be representatives of D&G. They all spoke with a distinctly British accent, which initially threw me off course. I was almost lured into their web of deception, but thankfully, I managed to pull back before it was too late. I actually hold a policy with D&G on my oven, which did lend some credibility to their claims - although it was entirely irrelevant to their dubious offer. The first caller informed me that my policy was up for renewal and quoted me a figure of £185 for a one-year contract. However, they were kind enough to offer me a discounted rate of £154, which he stated was a whopping 40% off. I was also presented with the option of a two-year contract for £295, which, he claimed, included a complimentary third year. I mentioned that I was struggling to make sense of their figures, especially when compared to my existing direct debit of £4.45 a month (which amounts to under £60 a year). The caller confirmed that the £154 annual fee would cover all my kitchen appliances, while my measly £4.45 was solely for a single appliance. He suggested that by ditching the monthly payments in favour of a lump sum, they could extend me that supposed discount. Curiously, the chap asked for the make of my fridge and whether it was a fridge or a fridge-freezer, as well as the make of my washing machine. Strangely, he neglected to inquire about my actual freezer or tumble dryer, despite the claim that the policy covered all my kitchen appliances. Feeling reluctant about paying £154 for their coverage, I was intimidated when he mentioned a cancellation fee for backing out, since this policy was supposedly partway through a two-year contract. Reluctantly, I acquiesced and was handed over to a woman who was tasked with taking my payment. She mentioned that I’d receive some documentation after payment, and oddly, I’d have a 14-day cooling-off period during which I could cancel and receive a full refund. It struck me as a bit odd, given the mention of a cancellation charge for not renewing! Ultimately, I decided against proceeding, and we abruptly ended the call. To my surprise, shortly afterward, a third individual called back, reiterating that if I were to cancel, I’d incur a £70 fee, and that paperwork regarding this would be sent through the post. Reflecting on the situation, a number of red flags that indicated this was indeed a scam went unnoticed at the time: - The unsolicited nature of the call, although the British accent somewhat reassured me. - The claim of a ‘renewal’ for a non-existent contract covering all my appliances. - The absurd cancellation fee for a contract that had supposedly lapsed. - The so-called ‘all appliance cover’ that only required minimal details about two appliances. It's a bit embarrassing to admit just how close I came to falling for this ruse!

I picked up and heard nothing on the other end.

Just got a call about washing machine insurance - total scam, watch out!

Got a call from an Asian guy asking for my daughter who’s living overseas. He didn’t say what it was about, just mentioned he’d ring again. After seeing what others have said here, I’ve decided to block the number now.

Got a call from a woman who said she needed to talk about a warranty for my washing machine. I told her I didn’t have one, and then the call just cut out.

I got called by this number three separate times today, but each time I picked up, they just ended the call right away. Quite odd!

Got a call from 01273655126 about some kind of household appliances insurance. I’m pretty sure it’s nothing to do with me at all. Seems like a total scam to me!

Our call blocker caught this number and stopped it, which is exactly what it's meant to do based on the other comments I've seen.

As soon as i picked up the phone, they just cut the call.

If you don't bother to leave a message, how are we supposed to figure out who you are or what you need? Never gonna know otherwise!

This number here, 01273655126, keeps ringing me non-stop but when I try to call back, no one answers. They never leave any voicemail either, so I have no clue who it might be. Very strange!

Got a call from some bloke asking for me by name, chatting about my home appliance warranties expiring. I just told him he was a scammer and hung up straight away.

Got a call from someone with an Asian accent saying it was about my home appliances. They had my name and address, which was quite creepy. They keep ringing me, definitely a scam.

I got a call on my home phone, but there was no voicemail left, so it must've not been anything urgent. The number didn’t ring any bells, so I’m guessing it was either some annoying sales pitch or just your usual scam. Can’t block it on my landline, unfortunately, but I’ve managed to block it on my mobile now.

Got a call from a bloke about extending warranties for my fridge freezer, washing machine, and dishwasher. He insisted the warranties I supposedly got last January needed renewing. I told him I never signed up for any extra warranties. He then said maybe there was some confusion, but he did have my full name, address and postcode. Bit strange if you ask me.

This guy called me up saying my home appliances' warranties were about to expire. I asked him which brand he meant, and he said Hotpoint. I told him we don’t have any Hotpoint stuff, and then he just abruptly ended the call.

I’ve gotten a handful of calls from an unknown number over the past week. My call screening picked it up, but they never leave any message. When I tried ringing back, no one answered, so it seems like a scam to me. You’d think they’d be clever enough to switch numbers by now!

Got a call from someone claiming to be from Sky. They had my name and address and started off saying that my Sky equipment didn't have any protection. When I mentioned that I've never bothered with any protection for them, he insisted that was the reason for his call. I pointed out that the equipment is owned by Sky, and I wasn't about to fork out for something that’s not mine. He kept reiterating that was his reason for calling. I told him I didn’t trust him and that I’d be contacting Sky directly, then I ended the call. After doing a bit of digging, it turns out I was right - the equipment is indeed Sky’s responsibility, so I have no extra costs to bear. It's clear this was a scam, so I suggest everyone keep their guard up!

Received a robocall, and it disconnected as soon as the voicemail kicked in. Definitely needs to be added to the block list, judging by what I've heard.

I received a call informing me that the insurance for a Hotpoint washing machine had lapsed. The trouble is, we don’t even own a Hotpoint appliance! I requested that they take my number off their records. The caller claimed to be representing the Hotpoint group, although it turns out they were actually connected to Indesit. Ultimately, she just ended the call without resolving anything.

They claimed to be from our household insurance provider, trying to convince us to settle our annual premium in one go for a whopping discount. They mentioned new documents were on the way, but when I pointed out they only sent emails now, the caller insisted they had reverted to sending paper letters. To access the purported discount, I’d have to cough up the entire sum rather than stick with our monthly payment plan. Then they passed me over to another chap who quoted a set of figures that completely contradicted the previous ones, which I made sure to mention. I expressed my reluctance to share any card information, but he kept insisting I was the main policyholder-something that was certainly not the case. He claimed he could identify the first four digits of my card! Quite peculiar, considering our actual insurer has none of my banking info. When I reiterated my refusal to divulge any personal details, the call abruptly dropped. Quite suspicious, if you ask me. Stay vigilant!

Received a call from someone purporting to be with Sky, stating that my television insurance was nearing its expiration date. The thing is, I've never been a Sky customer, nor have I ever taken out any insurance on my telly! They seemed rather desperate to keep me on the line and insisted they would ring back. I made it clear if they dared to call again, I would not hesitate to notify the authorities!

Received a call regarding so-called Sky equipment insurance, which is rather curious since we’ve never even subscribed to Sky! Definitely feels like a swindle!
