So, yesterday I got two calls from three different people claiming they were from D&G. They all sounded like they had proper English accents, which nearly made me believe them. I do actually have an oven policy with D&G, but it’s totally unrelated to what these callers were saying. That connection made their story seem more believable, though. The first caller started by telling me my policy was up for renewal and quoted me £185 for a year, but offered a “discounted” price of £154. Later he said this was a 40% discount. He also mentioned a two-year deal at £295, with a free third year. I found the price confusing since my current payment is just £4.45 a month, so about £54 annually. He claimed the £4.45 was for one appliance only, whereas the £154 covered the whole kitchen. He said paying once a year instead of monthly allowed them to give me that saving. I was asked to confirm the make of my fridge and whether it was a fridge or fridge-freezer, plus the make of my washer. Oddly, he didn’t ask about any freezer or tumble dryer, even though he said the policy covered all kitchen stuff. I didn’t want to pay £154, but he warned me I’d face a cancellation fee since my policy was supposedly mid-contract. I hesitated but roughly agreed, and was transferred to a woman to sort the payment. She said after I pay, paperwork would come through, and I’d have 14 days to cancel for a full refund. Strange, as there was meant to be a cancellation fee if I left. I told her I wasn’t going ahead and the call ended. Not long after, a third person phoned, stressing again that cancelling would cost me £70 and that cancellation details would arrive by mail. Thinking back, there were loads of warning signs I missed: - The unexpected call (though the English accents made me trust them) - Talks of renewing a contract I never actually had for all my appliances - A cancellation fee for a contract that’s supposedly expired - ‘All appliances cover’, yet only asking about two items Honestly, I nearly got caught out by this scam, and that’s the worst bit!

I picked up and heard nothing on the other end.

Just got a call about washing machine insurance - total scam, watch out!

Got a call from an Asian guy asking for my daughter who’s living overseas. He didn’t say what it was about, just mentioned he’d ring again. After seeing what others have said here, I’ve decided to block the number now.

Got a call from a woman who said she needed to talk about a warranty for my washing machine. I told her I didn’t have one, and then the call just cut out.

I got called by this number three separate times today, but each time I picked up, they just ended the call right away. Quite odd!

Got a call from 01273655126 about some kind of household appliances insurance. I’m pretty sure it’s nothing to do with me at all. Seems like a total scam to me!

Our call blocker caught this number and stopped it, which is exactly what it's meant to do based on the other comments I've seen.

As soon as i picked up the phone, they just cut the call.

Got a call from an asian bloke who somehow already knew my name, but I just ended the call right away - sounded like a total scam to me.

If you don't bother to leave a message, how are we supposed to figure out who you are or what you need? Never gonna know otherwise!

This number here, 01273655126, keeps ringing me non-stop but when I try to call back, no one answers. They never leave any voicemail either, so I have no clue who it might be. Very strange!

Got a call from some bloke asking for me by name, chatting about my home appliance warranties expiring. I just told him he was a scammer and hung up straight away.

Got a call from someone with an Asian accent saying it was about my home appliances. They had my name and address, which was quite creepy. They keep ringing me, definitely a scam.

I got a call on my home phone, but there was no voicemail left, so it must've not been anything urgent. The number didn’t ring any bells, so I’m guessing it was either some annoying sales pitch or just your usual scam. Can’t block it on my landline, unfortunately, but I’ve managed to block it on my mobile now.

Got a call from a bloke about extending warranties for my fridge freezer, washing machine, and dishwasher. He insisted the warranties I supposedly got last January needed renewing. I told him I never signed up for any extra warranties. He then said maybe there was some confusion, but he did have my full name, address and postcode. Bit strange if you ask me.

This guy called me up saying my home appliances' warranties were about to expire. I asked him which brand he meant, and he said Hotpoint. I told him we don’t have any Hotpoint stuff, and then he just abruptly ended the call.

I picked up the phone and the call just dropped straight away.

I’ve gotten a handful of calls from an unknown number over the past week. My call screening picked it up, but they never leave any message. When I tried ringing back, no one answered, so it seems like a scam to me. You’d think they’d be clever enough to switch numbers by now!

Called me and the moment I picked up, they just hung up right away.

Got a call from someone saying they were with Sky, and somehow they already knew my name and where I live. They told me my Sky gear wasn’t protected, but when I mentioned I never signed up for any cover, they said that was exactly the reason for their call. I explained the equipment isn’t mine, it belongs to Sky, so I’m not paying for anything I don’t own, and again they insisted that was why they were calling. Told them I didn’t buy it and that I’d contact Sky myself, then just hung up. After checking online, turns out I’m right - Sky owns the equipment, so I’m not responsible for any payments. Clearly a scam, so watch out for this!

Got a robocall earlier, but it just dropped once it hit my voicemail. Seems like the kind that should definitely be blocked judging by what others have said.

Got a call about our washing machine insurance being up for renewal, they claimed it was a Hotpoint. Thing is, we don’t own one of those. Told them to take me off their list. The woman said she worked for Hotpoint, which is apparently part of Indesit. Then she just ended the call on me.

I picked up but ended the call straight away.

Somebody phoned saying they were from our home insurance provider, trying to convince me to pay the whole year upfront for a big discount. They said they’d send new paperwork but when I said we get everything by email now, they claimed they’d switched back to sending paper documents??? Then they said the discount was only if I paid the full amount in one go and not by the usual monthly direct debit. After that, they put me onto another bloke who gave me totally different numbers, which I pointed out. I told him I wasn’t comfortable sharing any card info over the phone. He kept insisting I was the named policyholder, but I’m not. Supposedly, he confirmed the first 4 digits of my card, which is really odd considering the real company never asks for or holds my bank details. The moment I refused to give anything else, the call suddenly dropped. Seems fishy to me. Watch out for this!

Somebody rang saying they were from Sky and that my TV insurance thingy was about to run out. Thing is, I've never had Sky or any TV insurance at all. They weren’t keen on ending the call and kept saying they’d ring me again. I warned them straight that if they tried that, I’d report them to the cops.

Got a call from someone saying it was about Sky equipment insurance. Problem is, we’ve never even had Sky! Definitely just scammers trying it on.

As soon as I picked up, the person on the other end just hung up.
